What do you do when life deals you a bad hand. Like the poor schmuck pictured here. This fat , lonely, outta-work type guy attended a Phillies, yes the Phillies, game and got drunk. Then he got unruly. Then in a sheer stroke of genius, he put his fingers down his throat to force himself to vomit on a little girl. The father of the girl is a fit POLICE CAPTAIN with the Easton Pennsylvania Police Department. Not only did this guy fork over the money to see the Phillies and Nationals play, but endured foul language, being spit on, having beer poured on him and his daughters AND being vomited on. This disgusting 21 year old piece of crap that perpetrated this assault got removed from the park AND got that lovely big black eye for his efforts. Well done fat boy, well done. You traumatized a small child, forced yourself to projectile puke in public AND got your ass kicked. Nice one douche bag. Please , lets all take up a collection so we can send this fat ass to Fantastic Sams for a haircut and then lets slit his pupils and push him into traffic.

Well Spartans and countrymen, here we are in another Final Four situation. It feels great, but a bit different from last year. With the close games and 1 point victories, it seems as though we struggle. In reality, its been more of a number of players elevating their game(s) for the task at hand. Nix has started the last 4 or 5 games, and puts in quality minutes early, but doesn't seem to enter the game much after that. Summers has EXPLODED in the tournament. Even if he has an off game against Butler, my inner wiggly place says that someone will show up and fill the void. Sherman is developing just fine and the long term effects of Draymond Green are showing up in team chemistry and the improved passing abilities that the team has demonstrated as of late. With Tennessee running of 5-5 shooting from three, they very easily could have put us away early if my team doesn't respond. My team responded and played basket for basket and never really got in jeopardy versus the Vols. Naturally, a 1 point victory doesn't mean we couldn't lose the game, but if you were watching it, you just had a feeling that we had them right where we wanted them. The only Big Ten Champion left in the tournament. Feels good to say that. I REALLY wanted another shot at O H I O . That was not to be. Kudos to the Bucks for a great year and a share of another league title. Glorious bastards. Purdue REALLY needed Hummel, but did a heroic job in the tournament. Over all I'm pleased with this years campaign, and I think we can make a return to the FINAL. Butler has the tools to end it, and a home crowd to boot, but we played in front of 35000 or so Louisville fans last year against a team NO ONE except the GREEN AND WHITE give us a chance to beat. The Ville went down in flames, just like Kansas, just like Connecticut. The hours count down Spartans. Gather shield and spear, the battle awaits us. G O G R E E N ! ! !

Tomorrow marks another meeting between MSU and Notre Dame. Dating back to thee days when MSU was fighting UM to get into the Big Ten, there was Notre Dame, playing MSU and loaning it the exposure it needed to get past the wolverines and their efforts to keep MSU out of the 10. It didnt work douche bags. We're in and we're gonna muck everything up, count on it. All was fine until Ara "king of the douche bags" Parmesian played for a tie game. Puss. Anyway, CHarlie Weiss wants his boys to know that MSU has won about 136 in a row at South Bend, second only to USC. I hate them. USC. I long for the day when they suffer and writhe in losses and mediocrity. The leatherish skin on Pete Carrolls face tells me that skin cancer might fix our USC problem sooner than later.Charlie wEISS says there is plenty of evidence that MSU has no problem runnin' up in them guts at South Bend.He's right.It still doesnt mean we will win. I think my team has some discipline and youth problems to work out. A sense of identity, what ever that f'in means. I think the coaching staff is going to have to make adjustments DURING the freakin game. They didnt against CMU, and with a VERY questionable late SIDELINE B.S, juggling the ball TD, CMU gets the chance they need to upset us and voila'....I give MSU a 50/50 chance tomorrow. I dont think ND should be favored, but Vegas does. I want to disappoint them, REALLY bad.Toledo and OSU will be closer than anyone thinks it will be. I bet its less than 9 points, I dont know what the line is. Colorado stinks, and Toldeo put 54 or something like that on 'em.Charlie Weiss . That guy said after the flag incident, "we will never lose another game to Michigan State on my watch." That was 3 losses ago.Im worried about the offense. The defense will come around and be ready to play, assuming we dont have MORE injured guys, or get something out of the ones "good enough" to play on.Its late ,and my whole week sucked, so I'll end this with a picture of me at my raunchy best at the Montana State tailgate, about to be served an upside down margarita by my best friend Jamie( dont ask me why his hand is on my head),as I explain the wonderous world of hot, girl on girl action. Well, the Central Michigan Chippewas did a number on my boys. The Spartan defense failed to put any pressure on LeFevour late in the game , and our secondary allowed 400 bizillion yards or something like that. I really felt that as long as the chips defense was out there, they would surley buckle, but I think conservative play calling and PENALTIES not only gave the chips A LOT of extra chances to complete plays and make first downs , they also prevented us from extending drives. If there was a game to make mistakes and such, coachable stuff that can be eliminated or improved, thsi was an example of it. I have to say, even AFTER review, I think the last TD by CMU was bunk. I dont htink the guy was ever in bounds when he caught the pass. Obviously the officials felt differently,but the BTN broadcast caught an angle that sure looked like CMU's receiver was out of bounds. Different game if that call goes the other way. It doesnt take away from the fact that MSU needed to put LeFevour on his butt a whole lot more.I dont think the defensive strategy was up to par really. I didnt see any blitz packages that I felt were going to be effective against CMU. We didnt attack the weakness, and really I didnt see any change of plans at the half way mark. Im not on suicide watch, or condemning the staff or players.It was a disappointment against a school with a pretty good team. How CMU managed to lose to Arizona, I will chalk up to jet lag or something, because Im confident, we could blow away Arizona. Anyway, the coaching staff has their hands full with this weeks opponent, the dreaded Notre Dame. This is rival number two of two. Notre Dame looked pretty good against UM this week in a shoot out that scored the most points out of ALL the games between the Wolverinoes and the Irish douche squad. I thought Nicholl looked really good,and Cousins did ok. We need to find some running game, and it doesnt start with sweep left, sweep right bullcrap like I saw on Saturday. We need to run up the guts and off tackles MUCH MORE.Pull em into the middle then let the horses run up the sidelines to catch passes. the tightends looked great and a game ball to BJ Cunningham for making some great catches.

On a another note, KUDOS to Ohio State. Although they should have won by a large margin, I thought they made a good showing anyway. I saw lots of Bucks scrap it out with abandon for all safety, and you have to credit the crowd at the Shoe for leaving it all there, and firing every shot in the gun. Thad Gibson is a stud, and I want him. We will make plans to kidnap him for MSU fiendish plans. Pete Carrol is a lucky douche, and USC will NOT be Nat.Champ. The freshman QB for USC should thank his lucky stars hes been groomed for the job, because anyone else would have fallen apart Saturday under the scrutiny of the OSU home crowd. I only wish we could have that kind of energy every game at MSU. I do my part, and the crowd follows L.O.S.T's examples, but it doesnt start until we get there. Well, back to drawing board for MSU.

Thats right Spartans, Montana State put up token Resistance Saturday to a Spartan offense that put up field goals, made touchdowns and executed pretty good. Caulton Ray looked like some game experience would be a very positive thing for him, because he showed glimpses of the punisher he could be. The offensive and defensive lines did an adequate job all around. During the 4 th quarter, both lines looked a little gassed at times, but maybe its my imagination. 44-3 was the final score. White had a TD and got popped in the back of the helmet.A Little slow getting up on that hit, but he looked to shake it off relatively quick. I thought that the teams overall effort stayed at a high level for MOST of the game. I dont think anyone took his foot of the gas and coasted any. I hope not, but if so, I really hope Coach D drives that out of all the players.Both Cousins AND Nicholl looked good. I like the two headed giant quarterback idea. Damn shame that Bradford guy in BOOMER SOONER land got dumped on his shoulder. UM sent out a D lineman clubber type loser to do that to Drew Stanton after we amassed a 16 point lead or something like that about 5 years ago. Ancient history, but it looked exactly the same. Oklahomo should be worried if Bradford doesnt get back in there right away. Colt Mcoy is frothing at the bit right now. Probably not, but lets just say he is. All the team sin the 10 won this weekend, except ILLINOIS. Those losers were fighting amongst themselves on world wide TV practically, whilst they were hearing the test signal I was telling you about in the opening.Missouri spanked em. The Buckeyes almost fell into the soup, but once again, the defense rides to the rescue and seals the deal for OSU. They better find an offense and quick if they plan to avoid getting abused by The University of Spoiled Children.Northwestern exploded and so did PennState( whoa....shocker). Minnesota won in OT against 'Cuse and Iowa looked an awful lot like I was imagining ( Paki Omeara should NOT carry the ball). Indiana outlasted EKU 19-13......its gonnabe a long season for IU. Hope Labor Day was just nifty as hell for everyone, VICTORY FOR MSU.Next challenge-Central Michigan.

2009 Big Ten Preview

#1 Penn State, Michigan State, Wisconsin (11-1)

Penn State has one of the weakest and most pathetic schedules I have ever seen. Its just wonderful and robustly constructed to HAND PennState a title in the 10. 6 of 7 at home with OSU coming to the Beave? Joe Paterno is rubbing his hands together with glee. With a slew of returning talent including Royster and Clark ( Royster, the one Buck Owens replaced on Hee-Haw) and a VERY good linebacking crew, PSU should dominate. Royster is my preseason Super Stud type player, and I think he will rack em up, big time. A long term, solid coaching staff with an agenda custom fit for the Lions talent pool should make them the cream of the 10, regardless of the puff in the schedule. The hopes of the league rest in injuries and the weak schedule combined with a smattering of media hype to the head syndrome to derail the PSU train to Pasadena. Joe Pa, with his Namenda patch and his stool softener, will probably make this his swan song. I mean how much longer can this guy go on? Forever I guess, and what of it. Just cause something is old, dont mean it aint good.Besides Paterno 2 is calling the plays, and thats worked out just fine for Ole PSU. Wins for PSU will come easy at first, then graduate to harder contests, sorta. Akron,Syracuse,Temple,Iowa,Illinois,EAST Illinois, Minnesota,UM,North Western,Ohio State and Indiana will all succumb to the Lions.

Michigan State, at the seasons end with the Land Grant Trophy at stake AND an outright Big Ten title, shall be the only stumbling block for PSU. Revenge for last years smack in the mouth will be sweet, and MSU defeated a BETTER PennState team 2 years ago at East Lansing.

Wisconsin shall bounce back. I dont buy into Bielema falling apart from the lofty 12-1 campaign his freshman year as coach. I know, I know...they have a QB problem, and they have a secondary problem, and they have ..blah,blah,blah. Dont matter. Wisco has a history of falling apart after big game let downs such as the loss at home to an excellent OSU team last year, AND a season opening loss to Michigan ( thats gotta be like sucking on a urinal cake ). I think all the losses, including GIVING away a win at MSU was all the burden of the coaching staff. A late play call at the end of the OSU game cost them a close one. Poor play calling against UM cost them a 20 point lead and a win at that dump in Ann Arbor. Not one , but TWO timeouts and 35 yards in penalties cost them a 25-24 loss at MSU. All that served to spiral the Badgers downward. I think coaching staff problems are easier to fix than player issues. For the most part, players dont make mortgage payments from college football games and coaches do. Wisconsin will get its act together, I promise. The QB issue will remain a problem for them, as the team searches for an identity outside of the John Clay running attack. Wins for the Badgers will come from North Illinois, Fresno State, Wofford(look out for the Woff)MICHIGAN STATE, Minnesota, Iowa,Purdue,Indiana,UM,Northwestern, and Hawaii.

The Badgers one loss will come at the hands of Ohio State. OSU's defense can squash a one dimension down hill team like Wisco, and Bucky falls hard at the Shoe.

Finally , MSU. With the QB thing settled for now, MSU has control of its own destiny. Will it be glory, or , well , disappointment. Anything short of a repeat of last years record would be a let down for sure. Sure we all know Javon is gone,and the interior D line is depleted more, but so is Mr.Average Brian Hoyer. I feel with Cousins and Nicholl ( a hell of an athlete) and a LONG term coaching staff, MSU is in perfect position to return to the title scene. Granted MSU dropped all the big games last year, but I call it growing pains. MSU has a top notch defensive back field with three solid linebackers, two outstanding corners and a 6 man rotation at safety that ALL have multiple game experience, and 3 years or so in the defensive structure. The learning period is over, and now the players can react and attack. MSU has an ABUNDANCE of receiver threats including TWO returning tightends who had TD catches, 3 experienced wideouts and two redshirt wideouts who are wildly athletic and talented. The question is, can the d line put on pressure and stop the run, and who will carry the ball now the UBER-back is gone? MSU has 3 freshman RB's and two RB's that have experience , but will probably be doing special teams duty. MSU returns Bates as punter, an excellent punter , and Brett Swenson( the howitzer) to kick field goals. Special teams and Defense are the two best things about MSU, with the receiver corps a close third. Depth at most every position is a luxury that the Spartans havent enjoyed in A LONG TIME. Cautious Optimism is the way of the Spartan, so, lets just wait and see. I expect good things.....

Wins will come at the expense of Montana State, Central Michigan, Notre Dame (scumbags) Michigan ( Douche bags) Illinois ( possibly a loss if MSU doesnt watch it) Northwestern in a blood bath, Iowa (no revenge for Captain Kirk) Minnesota on Halloween, Western Michigan (why do we have to play them?) Purdont, AND the most tasty one PENN STATE.

Michigan States only scar will come from the pesky Badgers. Its hard for MSU to win at Camp Randall and I think this year will be no exception. Look for Wisco to smack the Spartans good.

Overall I feel that Michigan State, Penn State and Ohio State all have tools and the drive to win the title outright, but there are many questions for each team and a LOT of football to be played. It time fans.. gear up and get primed. We only get 13 days of football a year, so make every down and every snap one that counts.

Prepare Spartan warriors, its time to defend the homeland again. The hordes have once again mustered the courage and the ignorance to threaten us. If its blood they want, let them spill it in abundance!

#4 Ohio State (10-2 )

Madness.I know, pure madness, but thats what you get by the time you work your way up to the top positions in the 10. OSU is a young squad , with slim hopes of another National Championship bid, so in reality the pressure is off. This is good news. The other good news is, the Bucknuts return about 10 from last year, including Thaddeus Gibson and "Mudbone" Pryor at QB. Gone are Laurintis and "Beanie". What is it with the nifty nicknames? (compensator?) I think Robiske and Hartline are the bigger losses, because OSU was what, 9th , in the Big Ten in scoring offense? The only reason they managed 9th, in my opinion , is because MSU threw their legs in the air and forked over 45 F%*@ING points!! Anyway, Herron should be adequate in tandem with Pryor even though Tressel says that OSU will not utilize Pryor as a running threat (lies)and operate a much more "traditional" offense. With a prototypical strong defense, as OSU ALWAYS has, and some decent weapons, the Buckeyes shall be in control of their destiny. The drive for ANOTHER title in the 10 will not happen...maybe.Pryor has visibly improved his passing ability, and it wasnt bad to begin with, so moving the ball, with the obvious elimination of turnovers, should be do-able. Defense shall once again be the hallmark of this team, and I look for them to win field position battles and grind opponents to submission. OSU is right there, as they always are, and Coach Jim will have them running just fine. Going on what I believe, OSU will gain victory against Navy, USC ( yes, you heard me right, and remember, I HATE THE LOUSY STINKING PAC-10) Toledo, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, The Great Satan,Minnesota, New Mexi-who cares State and they will solidly bitch slap UM.

Defeat will come from a road trip to Penn State, a team with just as good a defense and a better offense, and Iowa in my upset special of the Century, but not really.

......sure would be nice to have another shot at 'em for a little revenge for turning me into a surly drunken, embarrassed Spartan..but..see ya down the road Bucks, good luck.

2009 Big Ten Football Preview

#5 Iowa Hawkeyes (9-3)

Its difficult for me to write about the Hawks considering I still have partial wood from watching Adam Decker STUFF Shon Greene to win at Spartan Stadium last year. That match up with the Hawks ranks among my Top 10 MSU wins of all time. That being said, this is NOT 2008, and the Hawks have got a better squad than last year..with out Greene. Some may disagree, but I think Captain Kirk has all the tools to move up into the upper echelon of the 10. Iowa demonstrated sound football by losing a number of VERY close games last year and building impressive victories, including pinning a L on the Nittany Lions in the definitive trap game at Iowa last fall. Im giving the Iowa defense all the credit WAY ahead of time and taking a HUGE GAMBLE in saying that the Hawks will go 9-3. Call it instinct and 9 good players returning on defense for the Hawks. All is not well in Hawkeye land and here's why.

1)Jayme Murphy's football career is over after back surgery.

2)Jewel Hampton, the best returning running back, will miss the entire season

due to knee surgery.

The running game will present a problem for the Hawks and a lack of a running game will make Rick Stanzi's year a bust. However, if the Hawks have really turned the corner, they will find ways to win all the close ones from last year. Senior leadership is a given and with the injuries being public knowledge now, I think Iowa will sneak up on more than one team this year. This campaign will also define the true coaching strength and weakness of Captain Kirk. Can he make more out of less? Can the Hawks muster the stamina to make DEFENSE their hallmark and keep the scores low enough for Ricki to be effective? We shall see. I like the Hawks, and I like playing the Hawks, even if the fans at Kinnick are amongst the rudest and most inbred in the 10. Iowa's win over LSU some years ago clearly demonstrates that Hawkeye will to find a way that makes them tops on the PESKY TEAM list second only to The Great Satan, the ultimate in spoiler teams. I see wins over Northern Iowa ( a VERY good team if you didn't know ) ,Iowa State, Arizona ( purely because I despise the PAC-10 ), Arkansas State, Michigan, Indiana, Northwestern, Minnesota and the long shot of the year, a win in the Shoe. Yes you heard it here first, Iowa will win at Ohio Stadium giving Ohio State one of its two conference losses.

The Hawks have NO HOPE of winning at PennState, Michigan State ( a 7pm game ), and Wisconsin. These will not happen. As long as PennState and Wisco hold up their end of the deal.

If Iowa doesn't muster the balls to make my predictions come true, merely put Northwestern in their place and life will once again show that my football knowledge is , well, crap. Either way, its all relative to your station in life. Mine is green and white.

#6 (tie) Illinois,Minnesota,Northwestern 6-6

I know, I know, 'whats this madness' you say? Illinois is widely regarded as being a much better team than it was last year. Better players, less distractions, etc,etc. Iam not buying it. I think all the problems and all the good points at Illinois stem from the same source, the coaching staff. Now dont get me wrong, Zook is who Zook is, and he deserves to be at this level of coaching, I dont see any debate about that, but from observing the team, I think there is a lack of leadership/control of the team that Zook is expecting from his upper classman and I just dont see it there. Juice Williams will more than carry the load, but I feel that defense schemes have caught up and overtaken the "dual threat" quarterback offenses. One man does not a team make. Penn State has one of the premiere dual threat QB's in the country, but Clark also has Evan Royster and a good defense to get the ball in his hands.Illinois does not have the same depth or level of talent to compete with the likes of Penn State.Expect Illinois to beat up Illinois State,Purdue,Michigan,Northwestern,Cincinnati,and Fresno State. The smacks will come from Missouri,Ohio State,Penn State,Michigan State,INDIANA ( yes, I said Indiana ) and Minnesota.

Of course, I could be wrong about it all, but I dont care.Really, I dont. Northwestern is the one team I feel that could do two things this year. 1) Go 6-6, by losing 6 games by a combined 18 points or less, or go 9-3 by showing the heart of the seniors and their great coach. Im opting for 6-6. For all the smarts and all the heart, they will not escape with wins on the road at Michigan State ( the best chance of a road win ) Iowa or Illinois. Cory Wooton is a fit and furious team leader and Mike Kafka has shown what he can accomplish with the right circumstances. I will not short change the Cats on the talent side of the football, but LIKE MSU, Im gonna have to see prolonged success to believe it, and I feel that Northwestern is still a year or two off. A good showing and a bowl game this year would certainly cement things for Pat Fitzgerald ( one of my all time favorite player in the 10 ) and bring in the recruits necessary to compete for league titles. The Cats have talent, you can see it when they practice, but do they believe it. Count on one thing, Northwestern will play every game all the way to the sound of the gun. Any team that expects to coast on the Cats in the 4th quarter will have a rude awakening. Wins will come from Towson,Eastern Michigan, Syracuse,Purdue,Miami (OH) and Indiana.
Losses from Minnesota,MichiganState,PennState,Iowa,Illinois and Wisco.

Finally, the Gophers. The Weber/Decker combo is a good one, but much like the "juice", I feel most of the summer coaching by Minnesota's opponents was done to squash this tandem. The Gophers dont offer much up on offense to keep a pretty darn good defense off the field enough to give them a rest. Any team in the 10 from top to bottom will fall to any other team if your defense stays out there ALL THE TIME. You have to make good pushes on offense to recharge the D. Its a must. Minnesota, as good as thier passing combo is, let me put it this way, passing doesnt chew up clock and if you dont have the horses to punch the ball in on the goal line, your not going to win a lot. The sun doesnt rise and set on the passing game alone, especially in the 10.You've got to pound the rock, at least a little bit. A team must have SOME threat to score in the running game, and I just dont feel it with the Gophers. They are a relatively light team size wise as well and thats not good for punishing with a RB. Wins will come at the hands of Syracuse (on the road even!) Air Force, Northwestern ( revenge ), Purdue,Illinois, and the coup de grace versus South Dakota State.The 'Phers could take out the Hawks by seasons end, because Iowa will think they just "need to show up" to win,but I wouldnt bet on it. Losses could be steep in point total and will be delivered by California,Wisconsin ( in a blood bath), Penn State(see Wisco),Ohio State, Michigan State on Halloween,and Iowa. I really like Tim Brewster and I feel he would be a wrecking ball if he had the weapons.Lots of up and coming RB's in the stable, so the 'Phers are rising, but not this year.

#9 University of Michigan (5-7)
Yes, its the Wolverines in at #9 in the countdown.Um has weeded out all the weaklings so far with transfers and I think the exodus from Michigan is over, thats assuming that all the speculation on NCAA rules violations pertaining to workouts and such dont hamper Rodriguez best plans. With the loss of Justin Boren to Ohio State ( what world do we live in? ) arguably the UM O-Line hasnt gotten better. Minor in the backfield and a few seniors on defense will not be enough, and I feel that the damage that UM's vaunted reputation has suffered in the coaching transition will not equal easy "show up" wins against weaker teams in the league. The freshman and soph's at UM are a year away from ever being able to gel into any threat to the league.
The losses will come at the hands of Notre Dame,MSU,IOWA,PENN STATE,ILLINOIS,WISCONSIN, and the final insult OHIO STATE. Granted Notre Dame and Illinois could possibly go to the victory column, but at this point I m gonna have to see it to believe it.
5 wins is obvious improvement, and those wins will come from Western Michigan,Eastern Michigan (seeing a trend here), Delaware State (apparently D St, wasnt satisfied getting creamed by ANOTHER winged helmet team, so they opted to play a weaker team) and last but , well, last The Great Satan (Purdue).
Things wont be so Rosy for the Wolverines and I think you'll see more of the sideline explosions and violent eruption from Rodriguez that we all witnessed last year. I see a bleak and stormy future for UM, due in large to the fact that the cycle of Bo disciples has run out, and that spells doom for the winning est ( is that a word even?) team in NCAA football.

Yes, its that special time of year when all sane and seemingly normal folk turn into raving lunatics in fanatic support of their favorite Big Ten school. I am no exception to this phenomenon and I am here to run down from the bottom to the top, my humble opinions on the who and what and how they get there of the upcoming football season, so here we go-

10.(tie)

In a tie at a dismal 2-10 record. The Hoosiers and The Great Satan (Purdue).
Indiana has a TON and I mean a TON of freshman, including all the QB's I saw listed on the team roster. This automatically means failure. The mistakes that freshman make are difficult enough to deal with let alone freshman on a team of freshman. Bill Lynch has some serious holes to fill with graduation and the demise of Kellen Lewis.Although the lineman on both sides of the ball seem to be catching up size wise with the rest of the Big Ten, it wont be enough to salvage any joy for the Hoosier faithful this year.The schedule includes predicted losses to Eastern Kentucky,Akron,UM,OSU,Virginia,Illinois,Nothwestern,Iowa,Wisconsin,PennState with the only wins coming against hapless Western Michigan and The Great Satan in the season finale. If fortune were to smile on IU, I could see maybe Eastern Kentucky(not likely as EKU had a pretty good year by IU standards) and Akron(5-7,very inconsistent) being victories, but the Big Ten schedule will chew up, spit out, step on and so forth the Hoosiers.

The Great Satan has no easy row to hoe either. With the retirement and departure of the venerable Joe Tiller, the cupboard is pretty much bare at PU( how fitting , PU, as in "whats that smell?"). As with Indiana, the roster is chok full of freshman, just waiting to make mistakes and forget all that the coaching staff struggled to pound into their heads during the spring and summer camps. With a respectable share of 300 pounders on the offensive line, the Purdue O will no doubt have some time to get run over,instead of steady retreat down after down. One thing that looks interesting , is the defensive end position. With a bevy of lighter 240,250 somethings all at 6'4" and taller, the Purdont outside pass rush and blitz combos could present some issues if your tailbacks are asleep or decide they dont want to block. That being said, any decent jumbo package or a well rehearsed "Packer Sweep left", "Packer Sweep right" will probably mince these light weights into chum.Predicted losses will come from a trip to Oregon,Northern Illinois, Notre Dame,Northwestern,Minnesota,OSU, Wisconsin,UM,MSU and a bitter pill in the season loss to rival Indiana. Wins shall come from the mighty Toledo and , you heard it here first, ILLINOIS at Ross-Aide. Dont ask me why, but I just feel Purdue will spoil Illinois' trip to West Lafayette. One travel note. I loved my trip to Boilerland, and the hospitality was impressive, even if the hotel manager charged me twice and then took 4 months to credit my money back, dont make the mistake of driving over the river to Lafayette. Its like driving from your average upper middle class suburb into a third world country with narrow one way streets and LOTS of scary people loitering in front of burned out cars and houses.

Ahh yes my friends. First off, apology for all the loyal readers and friends. I have been MIA again, but that is the nature of me, King of the Jagov tribes. Anyway...

Its time once again for football. Golf season was wrapped up today, with a blistering 27, yes you read it right, 27 net in the league scramble. ONE stinking stroke short of bringing home the bacon. Scored me a TaylorMade GreenBay Packers cap for a door prize, so Im happ-happ-happy!

Cary, what is a Tailgate tuneup?

Answer: The Tailgate Tuneup is a party hosted by the previous seasons Boccee tournament champion. It has a long tradition that was started by one of L.O.S.T's founding and most beloved members, Mickey Tropiano, the resident stud Italian guy. All the season ticket holders and various guests of the tournament champion gather to discuss away game plans and settle matters of order pertaining to the tailgate club. Then we eat. A LOT. Then we drink. A LOT. Puddles of Jagermeister and beer vomit all over. The tailgate tuneup is a party to get completely wasted off your ass and throw up all over yourself and grab up your friends and say " I lush you man..." , then pass out to be vandalized physically by all the other party goers, so a person can get their drinking bearings BEFORE we enter Spartan Stadium. No one has ever puked (in the stands.blowing chunks in the mens john HAS occurred, but there is speculation as to whether it was alcohol or under cooked shrimp) or been escorted out of the stadium for drinking in our history, except for one token UM fan who tried to pawn off some 50/50 tickets as his gate pass (moron) and the one time Tropiano's guest (another token UM jagov) was not allowed entry because he had beers stuffed in his shorts (moron).

Let it be said, that scribes and historians have on record L.O.S.T margaritas that almost single handily wiped out the student section of MSU when on the road at Camp Randall.Puke did fly, Spartans were escorted out by Dane County sheriff deputies, and Badgers were slapped in the mouth that day. It was awesome. We survived, but the poor 20 something kiddzies who partied with us before the game learned the hard way about hanging out with the "OLDER" crowd. The football team got whupped like 56-14 or something like that, so we were surly afterward, but the beers I had concealed in the trees made the walk back to the tailgate more manageable. The Tune UP is a right of summer indicating the beginning of our favorite time of year.Get ready Big Ten football fans...it almost time to suit up, get your mean on and go into battle. Why is golf so evil?

Would someone please tell me why golf and bowling are so evil? Both games are things a person can participate in for virtually their whole life, and most of us get better at them as the years go on. For 4 weeks I have fired rounds between 46 and 50. Not stellar , but not to bad for the course Im playing. The "tree" as I like to call it is Par 73 with the longest hole some 530 yards or so. Most of the back nine, you use your driver off the tee 3 times. The rest of the holes play by position rather than distance. Tree limbs hang over almost every fairway and you should NEVER be above the hole when putting. The greens are generally fast and probably the toughest in the county. I hardly ever 3 putt,seriously almost never. Still I manage to shoot high scores. I just dont get it. Its like my bowling game. I hardly ever hit 600 for a series, but I 'll bet 90% or more of my sets are 575 to 595. Golf and bowling give you just enough to keep you coming back, but not enough to feel like your really good at the game. League play this morning started bad with a 6 on a par 3. Then par (5), par (3), double bogey on #1 handicap hole (6),bogey (5). 25 strokes 5 holes in. I shot 53 today. YUCK. Lost my match by 3 lousy strokes. I shot par on # 8 also (easy hole, driver and a 9 iron to green), so you get what happened on the rest of the holes. Just enough to keep me interested. Oh well. Back to the practice tee. At least we got a good golf cart this week. I think the guy running the course thinks its funny to give the two fattest guys on the course the weakest golf cart. We threatened to kidnap his dog if he didnt wise up. Seems it worked .

Taxes. Everyone pays em at one time or another I reckon. Can anyone think of anything that makes you tight in the chest like a letter from the I R S. Not to imply that everyone is a cheat or anything of that sort, but what if you overlooked something or got a bad tip or your Tax Preparation guy was free basing drain cleaner? That little trip could cost you some bucko's when the I R S gets around to locating your mistake..and believe me..they will find it. For instance; Dear Mr.Ellis .....our recent review of your 2006 tax return shows you owe $93.65 in back taxes. PLUS a small penalty of ... and interest amounting to ....for a total of $2238.90.Please pay immediately.Appropriately, they include the payment plan application. Most of us would rather fork over a kidney or a gallon of blood to these tax "vampire" agents of the man. "Please take my only child...he eats to much anyway...".That never works, besides they would probably train the brat to collect and audit. All kidding aside, you folks at the I R S have a tough job to do. Its rough having to earn your living by taking pennies away from the lower 98% of us who control less than 1% of the total wealth in the country. Karma is a wonderful thing, no?

Hookers. Let me speak for a moment about hookers. These integral parts of society provide a beneficial service to the common man. Not only do they provide educational services, they also provide immediate stress relief, physical therapy, marriage counseling, they also stimulate the economy of the local areas they do business in. I know what your thinking, what about the moral implications..blah,blah,blah..whatever. I dont care. These people gotta eat to. The fact that they are disposable in the eyes of anyone who is a psychopath anyway, doesnt reflect on the satisfaction that random nameless sex with someone provides. Being happily married I havent partaken in hooker sex in some time now, but the fire still burns. Lets admit it folks, we all succumb to our base animal instincts some times, and hookers provide an outlet for such primal exercises. And another thing, what would I have to do on my yearly trips to the Milwaukee area if I didnt have hookers to stalk and harass and do incredibly unnatural things to. It just wouldnt be the same. Lets get them a sippy cup full of apple juice and a saltine cracker, so they can manage to gain sustenance that wont offend their precious little mouth. Grow up. I will call these people "beer pussies" from this day forward. Far be it from me to judge, but Im gonna. these people make me sick. They have never enjoyed white beer, or dark beer, ale, light beer, fruity beer, wheat beer ( my personal fave) or any other of the MULTITUDE of beverages offered that make up what is beer. Let us all shun the beer pussy and cast them into volcanoes as offering to the gods, after which we shall all get sloppy drunk and recall days of tailgate past when so and so pulled the funniest digger, or the guy who was physically removed from Camp Randall for cascading beer puke down 16 rows of seats after 7 hours of beer pong, or the guy next to you who keeps nodding off during the best game of the season because he's near death from ethyl alcohol poisoning. Just take his popcorn, whistle for the ushers and keep on yelling "GO GREEN ", "GO WHITE". and for gods sake....never, ever, ever let the bastards get you down...ever.

An ant, doing ant stuff. We had a brief conversation, then he went off to go about his ant work.

Well here we are. July is upon us. Being born in the summer, this is my time. Iam peaking and all my rhythms are at full power. apology for little to no blogging, but between golf,poker,work (I use the term "work" to mean enough to say "i have a job" but not enough to hold off impending bankruptcy) my birthday, my sister visiting and just kicking ass in general, I havent put much down. My birthday and the 4th of July are all in the same week, and I used vacation time to take the week off, so I partied my ass off ALL WEEK. The photo below is the first time in probably 12 or 13 years that my family has gathered together and shared good times and a meal, so that photo is truly one of a kind.

And of course, Iam the center of the group (theory proven..the universe does revolve around me..hahahah). Jeni and her parents adopted me, so to speak, so they have a spot of honor in the family photo ( they are the folks in the back row).

The B-Day party was awkward a bit at times, but, after a half hour or so, everyone was laughing, sharing stories and eating all of my favorite summer foods. The menu included Hickory Hamburgers, watermelon, sweet corn, pasta salad, cole slaw, various relishes, deviled eggs, some VERY good pulled pork BBQ (courtesy of my wonderful sister/brother-n-law) and a big 39 chocolate and yellow cake. Lots of nice gifties as well including a tripod AND a mono pod for my camera, digital photography for dummies ( thats me ) CASH..one of my favorite things..a BRAND NEW lawn mower from my dad. Normally, most people wouldnt get excited over a lawn mower, but we're weird like that. ALSO....my lovely wife bought two tickets to see Judas Priest (my all time favorite metal band) along with a brand new JP T-shirt for the show. This will be the second time I have had the pleasure to see JP. Say what you want about 70's and 80's rock bands, but I dont care. They were good times, and I kicked butt then, just like I kick butt now. I just have A LOT MORE gray hair....thank you to my Employers for the stress needed to provide the excess gray..hope you all slide under a gas truck..but not really. Did I mention how my wonderful wife gave me the new Dave Mathews Band CD also. She's the best, and I dont deserve such a wonderful wife/partner or a wonderful family like I have. They all made my day very special and I got hugged and kissed all day..it was great. I have been on an incredible hot streak due to my summer birth status. I have won all my matches in my golf league over the last 4 weeks, winning by an average of 6 strokes ( ass kickings for all the duffers ), in 5 weeks I lead the Hold em Poker league by a good margin and have won 20 bucks short of 500.I have 4 of 5 final table appearances with two third place finishes, one total victory, one 8th place finish and the first week I was eliminated in 16th out of 40 ( no points). Things are good , except for the looming loss of my job. Just 12 years of my life and wasted college, no biggie. I refuse to worry about it to the point of chest pains. Ill just retrain/reeducate and start over...again.

More blogging from here on out. Its just about time to gear up for football season and my quest for Boccee fame and the ritual fall rights associated with MSU whuppin it up on some Big Ten foes.Peace, love and good times for all my friends.

Road construction

Each morning is filled with the wonderful sounds of reverse beepers and the thundering

sounds of dump truck gates slamming into truck beds after dropping off their precious

cargo of dirt.Dirt that creates dust. Dust that coats everything with a gritty film of fun.

Ahh yess, the filth of road repair. All this goodness is coupled with two, not one, but two

wonderful aspects of living where I do. The road out is being destroyed only to be rebuilt into something hot, smelly and flat.....for a while. The other aspect is, the road that leads to the point where 3 converge is closed, so EVERY STINKING CAR/TRUCK THAT USED TO PULL UP TO THE STOP LIGHT, NOW, IS DIVERTED DOWN MY STREET.

Yes my street. It belongs to me. 25 mph has turned into 75 mph because every scumbag that

forgets from day to day that the main route is CLOSED, has to make up the time he/she lost

with the inconvenience of not taking the millisecond it takes to find an alternate route. I hate them all, and I want to erect a toll booth at both ends, so as to fund the county road crew in order to get my street plowed more than the 2 times a year its currently plowed out. Did I also mention that the TWO most direct routes to work are also nothing more than giant holes were asphalt used to be? Yes, its true. I have a ten minute drive to work that takes 25 now. Im getting a bicycle. I need the exercise anyway.

Moving on, I want to express how good Im feeling about my new stock trading strategy. Keep in mind, paper trading is not like trading with real Benjamins, but after a while, money seems more like a tool of the trade than anything else. I started on May 5th with a 150,000. dollar practice account. The tally for the month of May is...(bumm-duh-duh-DUMM) $34,857.00 profit, before taxes of course. Thats roughly 8700.00 per week. I dont know how I could really live on that. Probably in a 'fridge box somewhere. I never laid out more than 90,000.00 at any one time, so in reality, if I employed margin (equivalent to 2x buying power) the sum I earned on paper could have been around 16,400.00 per week. Enough to get by on I suppose. This strategy did however fall into "pattern day trading" status unfortunately. That is an aspect Im seeking to remedy. After years of study, and toil behind my computer screen, I think I have finally found a niche. This niche minimizes risk in ALL market conditions, and takes profits out quicker than traditional investing/trading. Long and short...so far it work great. I wont elaborate anymore than that. I am starting a campaign to raise funds, so I might obtain the proper licenses to manage money and gather investors to provide the necessary 50,000. to 100,000.00 cash to get started. I would almost guarantee the results. Almost.

My sister is coming home on the 25th of this month. Apparently her family is staying here until the 4th of July. This is great news. I love the summer visits, and Im on vacation all that week, so Im looking forward to some good old fashioned fun. Probably, mostly at my Bro-in-laws expense. I hope he brings his broke ass Boccee game with him, so as I may break it off in 7' 4" ass. I also fully intend to grab up my sis, and me and my best friend are gonna get her shit faced beyond repair...probably. She has been known to tip back a few, so I could have my work cut out for me. If my nephew and sister wish to have it broken off in their ass, they may join Don in the " I got it broke off in me " Boccee playoffs. All the participants get a t-shirt and discount coupons for $1.00 off Dairy Queen chili dogs and some expired MIS tickets for this weekends race

On a final note, Id like to throw a giant middle finger toward the automobile industry. Hanging in the balance of greed versus reality, i would like to say once again...IM sick of being held captive by the UAW and U.S. Automakers. Im as pro union as anyone. My "boss", thats what we will call him, told me " you know..you'de be better off putting your union dues into an IRA and make that money you pay worth something". Lets analyze this a moment. My dues are around $30.00 a month. That breaks down to about .25 per hour I pay to get the benefits of union labor. I challenge any employer in my industry to prove that if a union didnt represent the workers, our benefits package would diminish by less than .25 per hour. Heres the problem. If you haven't been given the fat UAW contract and your a lowly worm down the feeding trough of auto manufacture, like me, you dont get paid to be layed off. You just dont get paid at all. Our contract does not include a defined "shitter " break time limitation of 45 minutes, OUTSIDE of your allotted break times, to take a crap. Here's a news flash..if it takes you 45 minutes to "force of will" a shit out of your ass.....you need medical help. IM NOT DEMONIZING THE UNION, Im just saying that it seems the "nepotism" prone higher end labor contracts/hiring practices of the unions coupled with ridiculous compensation for executives, seasoned with a complete lack of vision by the Big 3 as a whole, makes for a giant turd sandwich all the people who supply these forementioned peeps with the stuff they need to make cars/trucks. My employer has men with 40 years seniority, NOT WORKING. 40 years of keeping America mobile and safe, and they arent working. Something is wrong here.

Not the best of subject lines, but accurate sometimes. I have found myself in a situation where people are pulling me 100 differant directions at once. Since I have taken up serious day trading (with some good results so far) and have been elected as President of my local union, I find myself running around like a one legged man at an ass kicking contest. If I hear one more person say " you need to ........" Im gonna hit someone. I m really sick of people finding it easier to ask me in liue of THINKING THINGS OUT FOR THEMSELVES. Dont get me wrong, I like being the answer man, but I dont like to have to think for people...entirely. Between working in effect 12 hours a day, managing to stay married (easy when you have a wonderful woman like I do) and attempting to keep unity and strength within our labor union, Im finding that when time is allocated for specific duties (ie.work,play,sleep) the "thing" has to go down right then rain or shine, because I cant guarantee when I can get back to it. I have to admit, sometimes I long for the days when I could piss away hours at a time with video games, movies, sports, whatever. Them days are OVER. Unfortunatley for you the reader this blog entry isnt about entertainment as much as its about venting a little. Keep in mind, the whole time all this crap is going down, the shadow of BIG THREE autoworkers meltdown looms over our heads. GM going bankrupt has raised a cloud of discontent that is hard to assess at this point. I REALLY need to stay employed, especially considering I live in what Forbes magazine termed, " The worst small city in America for jobs".Born and raised in Jackson county, I dreamed for years of moving to another area to lay down roots. After lon and difficult consideration, I decided to stay put and lay down roots here. Its not such a bad place to live, in fact its pretty good on my side of town. Then bang. Housing market plummets,jobs disappear,despair and turmoil abound.26 months now, things have sucked bad. Now it gets worse. Yippee. The only good thing I can say is, Im still working and Jackson county still has hole for hole, the best golf in the USA. There are no less than six, 18 hole minimum, golf courses with in a 15 minute drive from my house. A five minute drive yields 81 holes of golf. Being a golfer , its heaven. One other plus, all the above mentioned golf courses accept the Michigan Unemployment Insurance Debit card, so Im good.HAHA. Have a nice day people and Ill have something lighter and more entertaining next...I promise.

Jeni and I took some time and went to visit with the Elders of the clan. The day was clear, the breeze steady and warm was the sun. As we roamed the garden, whispers in our ears broke the silence.The whispers crescendo to full sound. They spoke of times past and of the laughter of birthday parties and dinners around the family center. Recalled times of sadness when our nation bowed its head. Sometimes in shame, sometimes in sorrow. Wordspeak of private times when the soul is bare and the lump of pride in your throat when a victory secured and the accolade granted. All these sounds flood into memory followed by images, like a slide show of days gone by.

The Elders, in possession of the ultimate knowledge, the knowledge of the grave, portend the future with the gentle warnings and watchful gaze from the heavens. They remind us of what is right and what is wrong. Life lessons that we pass as our legacy to the youth. They warn us not to lose focus on the goals we set, but savor your time and use it wisely. Most important, the ancient ones put into priority the things that matter to mortals. Live, laugh and love. As common as that seems, it is the most important of grave lessons. Do not waste life with destructive things, rather fill it with the positive, no matter how overwhelming ones situation may be.

The last whispers come from the ones that were taken to soon.They say , sorry I missed you , but my mission was fulfilled and the next task was ahead of me. You never came to know me, but I know you and we will catch up when the time is just right. Maybe we will sit in the old porch swing and share our adventures we had, or head to the beach for never ending cool sea breeze and warm sunlight. No sunburns here, and we wont ever have to leave if we dont want to. Until then, live,laugh and love. Dont be in any hurry.......

Coach D was interviewed by Adam Rittinger of ESPN, following the conclusion of the Green and White game ( a 38-37 ot victory for White) and its my opinion that he has

brought something to MSU that has been missing. A charismatic leader with ties to MSU.Having served as an assistant and then gaining valuable experience at Ohio State and then head coach experience at Cincinnati, he stated that the job at MSU is a destination job. This is what was so bitter about the Nick Saban incident. The Big 10 network was replaying the 2004 MSU vs UM game, and watching my squad put up 280 yards on a UM defense that averaged 275 PER game, only to lose in 3 ot really put into perspective all the agonizing years of the John L days and the Bobby Williams days.Coach D also is the first coach in a while to really understand the importance of the intrastate rivalry.Coach said last year in an interview, " in Michigan, your either green or blue, period." And we all know...it aint always easy bein green.

The spring game showcased several senior defensive backs, ALL the fit and in shape offensive linemen (++++) and Keyshawn Martin, who I think will shine THIS year.

With 3 decent tailbacks, it will be incumbent upon the line to help establish a respectable run attack.If that works out, I feel the future is VERY bright. Dell, Cunningham,White, Martin and two good tightends in Celek and Gant makes our passing attack pretty good.A few things that bugged me....defensive lineman is a shortcoming.Not a huge problem, but we lost some depth there and corner backs.The play didnt look that hot, but the players physically looked ok.We shall see soon enough.I think the QB situation is a win/win game I feel. Cousins looked good and Nichol has all the tools to be Stanton grade or better in my opinion.Again...we shall see. Cautious Optimism warriors...such is the path to success in Spartan land.

played Mikes favorite rock songs

in a low tone in the background, while

a large flat screen television posted a

nice variety of photographs from throughout Mikes life.

I liked that touch. They really started wailing when "knockin on heavens door" came across the speakers. I guess I never gave much thought to wha kind of music I would want played at my funeral. I love so much different stuff, it would be hard I would think, for a loved one to pick out the soundtrack of my burial. Jeni and I sat together listening to music and quizzed each other on what we might select to play. I have a mind like a Rolodex for music sometimes, so I was pretty close when I was guessing band to song type questions.

Jeni, not so good all the time with titles, was very close with a suitable tribute playlist. I want cremation, but in the old Norse way. Build a huge timber pire and set my old corpse a burning. "Smokin like a ole tire, that bastard...", my brother-in-law would say." Someone will probably call the township...I just knew this was a bad idea...", my mom says, as her head flies from side to side looking for the cop wagon to come and haul us a way for off season burning. Jeni, exasperated by now, has retreated to the front doors to smoke, the only evidence being the hum of the Amigoand the sound of the plastic oxygen tubing dragging behind her. Jamie , overcome with grief, has gone off to rifle through my stuff for some Magic cards he still claims are his.Hope, having ran out of energy two rows into the bleachers, sits with her hand on hip, disgusted with all the bad manners she see's in the room, followed by momentary weeping because she realizes that the only person on earth SHE could beat playing cards is burning like a oil fire.

And low, what is this gathered on the

sidewalk outside? All the poor summabitches that ever got monetarily jumped in hold'em poker. About 17000 people smoke and share tales of how fast the chips passed from them to me. Standing next to them, all the people who was "just about to call you" when they thought, "hey I owed that guy some serious cash..", as they passed your obit in the paper."They dont know about the money, Ill cash in on the luncheon afterparty...".

The poker enemies, hearing the sirens notice how close the fire is getting to their stuff,and in turn trample the deadbeats.Normally this would sound like screaming and the crushing of human bodies, but due to the fact the deadbeats are just soulless shells of insect feces, they crumble into a fetid powder under the heels of the "poker stampede". My mother, proudly striding toward the parking lot points to the big red trucks in distance and says," the township.Told ya we shoulda called em.....".With the flick of the wrist and a fist in the air, Jeni takes off down the hillside.She has seen enough of this chaos.With her Amigo's battery dangerously low ( because like a cordless phone, them things plug themselves back in...dont they?) she stalls in the rain gutter.To proud to ask for help, she stares out to the roadway and plans her next move.

catch up with my mom who has made it to her car and now searches inside her hand bag for the keys she has in her other hand.With a loud summons, my dad shouts down to Jeni," hey you...ahh what her name, ahh..",he asks,"..whats her name?..".With no more than a shift in her scooter seat, Jeni floats the old man the bird.Having the attention span of a Cocker Spaniel, my dad wanders down the sidewalk surveying the burning cars.

5 fire trucks roll past the funeral home at 74 miler per hour, showering the wayward Jeni with fine gravel taking her back to "the Best room you got.." episode, where we stayed at a motel that had a pool 30 ft from an off ramp from I-75. Whomever took it upon themselves to call the township for the burning ordinance violation got the house number wrong, and with the blink of an eye, the rescue squad roars by , and off into the distance and becomes a little red dot on the horizon. Freeing her Amigo Jeni rolls to the end of the street, turns to see my family piled up at the traffic light, 17 burning cars and trucks, a small oil fire from my body and a crowd of 35 or so on lookers.With the eruption of a small propane grill tank in the bed of a burning truck, a cool wind, and then.....rain....Jeni leans back, shakes her head from side to side, and with a laugh says......." nice, Cary......nice".

With a glare and a strong exhale, my face says "go away".Images in my mind of pain and suffering of my enemies bring a smile to my face.It is not a good day.Nothing can make it a good day.You will not cheer me up.Every step my feet stab into the steel steps toward the mindless babble center that is the workplace.The same faceless slabs of flesh mill around and grumble their grumbles,revive the same sarcastic humor from yesterday and the 7000 days that came before.Like flickering lights in a dark sky, the few angles of mercy walk past, cast a sympathetic glance and say "hello Mr.Ellis..".Hello.Good to see you.My face softens and I make eye contact on my way by, and return the kind and thoughtful gesture.Its amazing how few people are really appreciative and reciprocate good manners and polite demeanor.I reward this rare find with the utmost courtesy and support.The hours pass slowly and the souls of these rare and colorful creatures is slowly extracted from their bodies.The pay, hardly worth the cost, is the only motivation.Vampires rule this world.They suckle at your spirit and nibble for sustenance,tending the cattle.With rehearsed speech and propaganda befitting a Nazi rally, they attempt to mask their bitter disrespect and utter contempt with having to actually PAY MONEY for your hours with demands for more ,providing less means to accomplish the "goals" they have set.Every day is the true definition of doing what you have to do versus doing what you love to do.Apathy is the only virtue they nurture.Without apathy, the slaves would revolt and leave the farm.They need it.They promote it.Without apathy, the sun light of vision and creativity would no doubt sear their pale undead skin leaving them blistered and angry.I know of these things, so in their dark corners they plot and wait for the time to strike.Empty is this vessel, for I will overcome.I will bring the light and lead the people.It is the path to productivity and true success.Our will and our virtue shall be the rock that they shatter against, or all shall be lost and the sounds of industry will fall silent and the walls will grow lonely with only eachother to look at.Enlightenment is so close, but their eyes blinded, can not see.Faint in the distance, the horn sounds out the call to arms.I shall be ready.

Attack cat.Everyone who enters the house gets this warning.." dont worry about the dog..its the cat you need to worry about...".Such is true for the poor Comcast tech that came over yesterday to repair the cable TV issue. Seems this last weather debacle caused some hidden damage. This poor guy was a buck-o-five skinny guy with a pleasant demeanor who said, " yeah right" when warned about the cat. Sinatra began stalking the guy from the onset and actually allowed him to touch when supervised.HOWEVER, when said tech meandered off to inspect cable integrity, the attack cat sprang into action. With a growl and a short sprint, when Jeni wasnt looking, attack cat latched on with all four legs and teeth into the Workman's lower leg.He quickly called out for the removal of the animal.Sinatra, suspecting his attack ill timed released the guy and sped off to plan his next assault.Jeni, in hot pursuit, scooped up the felonious feline and chucked his cats ass into the laundry gulag.This DID NOT make kitty happy.He spent the next half hour howling and methodically destroying the wood frame around the door.Luckily for us and the cable tech, he was wearing high cowboy boots and the only damage was several prominent punctures of the leather and no skin damage.The lucky Tech guy later said he would not want to be the unlucky criminal who burglarized casa Ellis.A face full of claws and teeth certainly would spoil someones day I think.Sinatra is about 13 lbs. Pound for pound, he would whupp any Rottweilers ass I suspect.Im just happy he loves me and mommy and the dog.If he didnt I would surely sleep with the bedroom door CLOSED.

Fried day

Fried day, my favorite day. Today is the day I openly engage in consumption of fried foods.Especially fried fish. All you can eat goodness. This fact is directly responsible for the expansion of my waist line and the pain in my leg joints. I dont care. I love fried food so much, a cat turd dipped in beer batter sounds good enough to try. Waffle fires, steak fries, cod, perch, pollack, whatever. The waitstaff at my favorite troughs LOVE me with enthusiasm beyond description. I tip good and eat fast. My love of artery clogging comes from genes. A long line of big eaters. Im not ashamed. I love me. I loved me at 200 lbs. Ahh yes...200 lbs, 30 inch waist, I could run like a deer, hit like a dump truck and was agile.......I have never been agile. I have two directions, straight ahead and stop. Stop isnt a direction, so you get it. Yes, fried food , my not so secret lover has driven that man away. Now I still hit like a dump truck, but the deer days are over and I wont get into my waist line. If I didnt like to cook AND eat so much, its possible I could have maintained the 200 lb level, maybe. I often wonder how much age really has to do with overall fitness. Im not so old that I have trouble losing weight. A small change in portion size and diet yields instant results, and exercise puts it on turbo. Strange as it is, I dont feel the motivation, knowing Im well over optimum weight. I think its an overall contentment with life. I just dont feel bad about it. I guess good self image isnt something to complain about .It also helps I could care less what others really think also. Im pretty good about how I look in public, taking the time to look appropriate that is, so rudeness isnt ever an issue face to face. I have a perma-scowl I wear by nature, so I guess snickering at a giant meanie pants lookin like guy doesnt happen much. Im ok with that. I hate having to slap around rude people. Stopped out to the dads today to look over some finances and snapped a few pictures today, some blooms and a old pooch. Good wishes for everyone this weekend, I have a funeral tomorrow for a coworker of Jeni's that had a heart attack at work and died right there.Mike was 44 years old.Maybe Ill order a salad tonight.

The weather improves and spring is here. Iam very happy about this, although I have to say winter was a different animal this year for me. Usually, I hate it. Cold, snow, and lots of misery. This year I returned to my Michigan born roots, and really , winter was ok. We had some exceptionally cold days and more than enough snow to move around, but overall it was manageable. My good buddy pulled me out of very deep sleep and the picture above is what Sinatra looked like when my eyelids cracked open. He immediately began purring his nasty cat breath into my nostrils just as I took that initial deep " wake up" inhale. " Breakfast?", Sinatra inquires. "9 am ........", I grumble. He doesnt care that I work sometimes until well after 2300 hours. " Ive been asleep all day...", he says. " And night.....unlike me", I reply. No matter, he flops over on his side and turns his head completely upside down and winks at me stretching out his little cat arms to touch me lightly on the face. Relenting, I get up to the crunching goodness that is my knee joints and stagger to the bathroom. The market awaits, and the money train is pulling out of the station. I have changed the title of my blog to something more suitable and I intend to shift away from sports rants about MSU and focus on an abundance of other things.Im an aspiring photographer and creative writing is a long time love, so I shall blog more often about this sort of jibbery write what most dont understand. Warnings all around, mature subject matter will be produced, so disclaimers apply. Insight into the demented side of that which is my mind can be disturbing and cause itchy , runny nose, gas, bowel discomfort, prolonged erection, abnormal bodily discharge, vomiting and euphoria leading to paranoia, mostly in women and animals. Very recently, I clicked on one of those pesky ads on Yahoo! Finance page,
whilst smoldering about market shifts and the facts of life as pertains to trading
the market. Keep in mind, I've been trading for sometime now. I wouldn't say I'm
a pro, or make any claims to be some sort of economist, but I have learned just about
all the things NOT to do when trading the market. I refuse to believe that Buy & Hold
is a strategy at all, unless your investments are meant to stay in place for eternity.
Eventually, if your choices are good, buy & hold will provide steady dividends and through
prudent reinvestment, your money will grow and regardless of price, you will end up ahead
of the game. I dont think that way. I like to trade for INCOME. The market has changed in the last two years to be a traders market. I think this is in part to the deployment of trading software, provided by both retail brokers and put in use by larger banking/investment firms.
Most of this software analyzes price points and volumes and then makes a determination of
buy/sell points based on this data, with the obvious disclaimers that say if you lose your ass, its not their fault, because you didnt look close enough. ANYWAY, I clicked on an ad for Sogotrade, a discount broker based in New York city. At first glance, it looked attractive. The commissions are $3.00 per side with no minimum account fees or start up fees or any of the burdensome
crap that pisses you off. Nice. Next thing I notice is that Sogotrade is a self clearing broker, which eliminates third party clearing, a benefit in that cost savings for the broker is passed to the customer in the form of lower fees and trade commissions. Nice.
Third, after deeper investigation, I found that Sogotrade has advanced procedures in place for account log in security and account safety. Being a victim of identity theft myself, this is VERY nice.
I opened an account and after an annoying period of waiting for account set up to activate, and my security documents to process, I funded the account and started trading.
WOW. Is all I can say. The system works well, I was awarded 100 free trades with a measly 30 day expiration ( thats the only negative really) and short sales go off without a hitch.
This is the crux of today's blog entry. Trading BOTH DIRECTIONS. For anyone who dabbles in the market, one thing to keep in mind is this, predicting whether or not a stock will go up is for
fortune tellers and suckers. This market DOES not trade on fundamentals or hardly any of the traditional things your economy professors preach. Trading volatility is the key to success. VOLATILITY. As long as the market is open, you can make money. The other key to winning is knowing what your trading. Know the industry, know the players. Its hard to draft a fantasy team that wins if you just guess. You need to know who and what. The difference is, you dont care if your star 1st baseman bats .400 or goes 0 fer 273, as long as he gets HIS TURN AT BAT.

The woodshed. Thats what it was ...the woodshed. UNC put MSU away VERY early. My team looked tight and did everything on the "paddle my ass" checklist:
1) Turn the ball over
check
2)Shoot 0'fer
check(Chris Allen handled that one)
3)Miss at least one of EVRY one and one freethrow opp.
check
It didnt help that Ellington hit the rim 3 times all night and Lawson collected 8 turnovers all by his lonesome. The Spartans seemed to loosen up, but quite frankly, the ship had sailed to a
20 point lead by that time. The size differences was not ASTOUNDING, but enough to mention here. The Suton effect brought us the equivalent to his scoring average closer than in December, but that was about it.
In summary, I had loads of fun Saturday, AND NO FUN AT ALL MONDAY. I wont say "I figured UNC was gonna win" like all the poo-poo pants folks, but I did know it would be rough.
Rough...hehehe, its kinda funny now. I asked for quick death, and my wishes were granted.
All in all, MSU made it to a place no Big Ten team was supposed to, and wiped out the vaunted
BIG EAST POWER. Power...yeah right. We also gathered a Big Ten title by running away with it, the largest margin of victory by any team in the 10 since, oh...1984-85?
My buttocks are stinging from the whuppin' we got, but my head is held high. Im proud of our teams trek to glory, I want to thank all the players, coaches and staff for all the hard work, and say in summation.....GO GREEN!!! See ya next year....summabitches...haHAHhahAhHAHAHA

The calm before the storm....

Its close now. As I survey the camp, the smokey taste from the fires crosses my palate. No sleep tonight. The horrors of previous battles still ring in the ears of the common soldier. The mere appearances of the old Commanders and our retired leaders inspires. No one wishes to falter in the eyes of the great ones. The ones who carried the shield and spear bringing glories of legend and tales passed from fathers to sons. "what consumes your mind captain?",inquires the page.No response. Just a slow walk and a steely gaze, the muscles in the jaw tighten and contract, then tighten again.Then words,"they know not what sacrifices will be asked in the day to come.What of their homes,what of their brothers? These things not in their minds, but in their hearts.In the blood of the arm that thrusts the spear and rends life from our enemies.In the screams of pain of the wounded and fallen, that is where the things of home exist". Looking across the fire lit field, the men sit and drink, tend wounds and laugh. Their shadows loom large against the rocks and trees, expanding and growing to shape the figures of the great ones.The ghostly elders wager and speculate, observing the preparations and the prayers.These mortals do not know what lies over the next hill, or how high the summit they claw their way toward actually is."Folly, pure folly", laughs one."VICTORY is at hand!!",shouts another. The shadows draw weapons of thunder and lightning bolts ,posture, pressing chest to chest.Tense silence, squinting eyes locked in a death stare reserved for their victims.Both shadows step back clasp hands and tip backward belly laughing. Its the time to defend home and drive the enemy into the sea.

With a pass, a short sprint and a thunderous one handed dunk in Stanley Robinsons grille, Durrell Summers ignited the crowd of 72000 in Ford Field. I wasnt there, but L.O.S.T was out at Michigan Theatre, and at that moment in time, we all erupted to our feet riot screaming. That moment came with 5:40 or so left in the game and we could see the spirit drain out of the UCONN Huskies.Momentum never swayed really, and even at the start of the second, UCONN asserted its will and gathered momentum, but all the sandbags in the Sahara couldnt hold off MSU when the levee gave way.MSU started the game fast building almost a 9 point lead instantly, but with a 4 or 5 minute scoring drought, UCONN came back to lead by 5 at 9:35.The crowd quieter, we all sat hands clasped over our mouths watching.Methodically executing play after play,MSU played bucket for bucket. They gathered a turnover here, there and again, wore down the UCONN starters (31 minutes minimum for Huskies 5). One thing I saw that I think needs commenting on, is a similarity between UCONN and Oklahoma. Several times when Thabeet or Robinson made a play, there was a scream and a pose after the play like some skinny Pro Wrestler, while MSU pushes he ball up the court for 3 on 1 and 4 on 2 break points.Oklahoma in its embarrassing loss would throw down a super masculine dunk then pose.....down by 20 points. A little reminder fellas....its not about SI covers or NEWS @ 6 highlights, its about team play and FINISHING. Thats why we play Monday, and Blake and Hasheem are at home watching TV.

Suton did all he could,Lucas poured in the points and Walton shutdown whoever he guarded.Summers,Allen and finally Raymar Morgan chipped in.The future, Draymond "Dancing Bear" Green played well above his age in basketball years.I think he has bought into the plan as has Delvin Roe, another future MSU great. With so many guys coming off the bench and playing beyond the call of duty, its hard to mention them all. Final results? 82-73 MSU WINS!What else can I say ......

Its about 1pm Saturday. 5 hours to game time. Im nervous as if I was going to suit up and play.
Die hard fans and former athletes like myself all know what Im feeling. I played many 3 on 3 Gus Macker style basketball tournaments, and every time, I was nervous. My confidence never rattled, as I thrive on the challenge. I always liked to play people who were obviously taller and better players than me ( wasnt hard to find) because I always feel the drive to shine. There is no sensation quite like when your in the "zone". The basket is as big as a swimming pool and the ball flows off your hand with the smooth release and rainbow flight. If its all REALLY clicking, you can post like Kevin McHale, and fill the basket like Larry Bird. Exhaustion means nothing, the effort of your opponents means less. I have to say, I dont get there a lot, but it happens every now and then. I have learned over the years, that I cant overwhelm my mind with the stakes of the game. I always do better when I focus on game fundamentals. Play hard, stay alert, bend but dont break. That probably doesnt make sense to most, but my player friends know what Iam saying. Im ready to see em do it. Spartan nation is hungry. People in Michigan are punch drunk from the effects of our failing state economy, and an overall decline in morale. A win for MSU would fan a spark to hopefully build to a flame. The dark underbelly of human kind is slowly showing more and more of itself as we struggle to maintain dignity and some semblance of the style of life we have become accustomed to. Crime is way up, and unemployment is around 12.5% in Michigan. 1 of every 10 people are either unemployed and / or unemployed and on state assistance. Why the mainstream enjoys trashing the upper midwest is beyond me. Doesn't matter, actions speak louder than bullshit. We will rise again. Lets get that party started with a victory for MSU and the Big 10 today at 6pm. Im heading down to Michigan Theatre to watch the game. Michigan Theatre is a Spanish Ren style theatre build around 1930 or so. Very orante and very beautiful. A treasure in our crappy city that just holds onto existence by charity and dedication of people who love it here and want to preserve our towns heritage. Good place to see a show. Yes people it is true. Contrary to popular opinion, Michigan State AGAIN rises to the occasion

and sends the 'Ville home to mama. And yes, again, the ever omnipotent Digger Phelps and the ESPN crew sit back and flap gums about Tyler "Two move" Hansbrough and the impressive win against Oklahomo. The win for MSU was an eyebrow raising "oh by the way" as usual.No matter, MSU continues to represent the Big Ten and wipes out the Big East Tournament champs. The 'Ville , the Juggernaut that it was , was limited to 0 fast break points.Indeed, zero, nada.And its infamous press yielded, you guessed it, zip. Granted, I cant say I ever took for granted that MSU would win. That is not our way. Cautious optimism is always the attitude. It must be. There is no other way. MSU executed its game plan very, very well and controlled the pace of the game. I found it funny that the Louisville guards were handing the ball off to the officials instead of letting it fall so they could get back of defense. Nifty stuff, until the officials put a stop to the cheatin'. Goran Suton, oh my god, continues to play beyond the call of duty. Doing all the little things, scoring, rebounding, playing solid enough defense. Durrell Summers finally showed up and on top of all that, Raymar Morgan and Chris Allen scored a whopping 6 points and gathered 8 rebounds between them both in not one, but TWO games. The one thing they are contributing is hustle plays and defense. If these guys get a game and everyone else can keep it together, MSU will do well in Detroit. Spartans, we are light years from the last time George and I sat quietly in Ford Field and watched as UNC made us look pathetic. That was December. Louisville averaged 83 points per game. 83 . Msu allowed the Cards 52. DEFENSE people, thats what defines Big Ten ball. Louisville had 1 basket in the last 5 minutes or so. Count em, 1. Defense, not showtime bull crap like Oklahoma. Those power dunks when OU was down 20, real impressive. No different than any successful football team in the 10. We will play defense and establish the run.Thats championship football in the 10. The Big East track meets didnt hold up this time. UCONN will try the same, Im sure. Thabeet will have to come out and play on Suton. If Suton can continue to play at this level, Thabeet HAS to come out. I wont say 7' 3" wont get his, but the game plan will be different for sure.

The battle is over Spartans. Drink, eat, make little Spartans. Savor this accomplishment and revel in the pain of our victims. Tomorrow, we go back to work. Another plateau is in view, and we must find a way to conquer it. The people of Spartan nation and on a larger scale, the people of Michigan need it. No guarantees, no freebies, no mercy. OSU, who eventually put their legs in the air for The Great Satan. The team that made it all the way to be destroyed by the questionable recruiting UCONN Huskies. Shame, shame Huskies. Pesky rules, I know. The BIG MEANIE PANTS NCAA looking at you all cross ways and such.I degress. Digger Phelps, who I add is unemployable in coaching because he is a small bitter man

from his tenure as a pissing lamppost at Notre Dame, sits on CBS and CONSTANTLY flaps his

Kansas rolls into Indianapolis, and in a post game interview, Sharon,Cherron or whatever Collins says ( on television no less) how Travis Walton is OK. "He's the Defensive player of the year or sumthun..he's allright.",Collins says. "I'm gonna show da wurl (translation from dumb assery; Show the world) I can carry this team to da finals....". Almost as bad as listening to Travis Walton speak about his "edumafication", but no where near the boisterous style. Collins in his comments never even aknowledgeing the fact that KU has an outstanding sophomore center.Collins will show da wurl. Right. Kansas comes out of the gate and starts fast.MSU in typical fashion coughs upa number of turnovers that leads to 15 points for KU. This translates into a double digit lead for KU as time wears on toward half. MSU chips and chips away, taking advantage when Aldrich goes to the bench, Suton quietly racking up the reebs. Kansas goes on a 13 -0 or so run that extends over 2:45 or so and things start looking panicky for MSU. Izzo calls time out and composes the troops. KU coughs it up and bang, MSU scores (2:50 or so left in the

first half) and with sound logic, Bill Self calls time out to avoid any shift in momentum. Time expires and with literally 0:01 Goran Suton hoists a jumper to make it KU 36-MSU 29.

No matter what happens Sunday against Louisville, Goran Suton is my tourney MVP. That guy

has had one mission all season.Work hard, rebound and do all the little things to win.Lucas is

important, and there is no substitute for a strong bench, but Suton hauls the mail, end of story.

Kansas didnt go into sweet repose easy.They held the lead and the game see-sawed for 15 more

agonizing minetes.Fouls didnt really become a concern for either team and it seemd the ref's

tightened up the game starting in the second half, but it didnt seem to affect the game.

As time wore on, Aldrich got slower and slower, and so did Collins. The two man show of Kansas got NO help from the bench. 10 poins total for the game from the Jayhawks pine riders.MSU

collected 38 points from the subs. The key to victory AGAIN. Depth is a wonderful thing.

Overall KU outrebounded MSU, I know, hard to believe, but its true.One other stat that shocked me was Collins going to the line twice.No foolish fouls.Turnovers and a lack of conditioning/depth of bench was the undoing of Kansas.

It took every bit of this game for MSU to overcome Kansas and hats off to the defending National Champions for playing a good game.

The next item up for bid on every ones favorite game show,"You got whupped!!",

the original Big 12 bad boys, The Kansas Jayhawks!Now, in January, my Spartans took on these

same lame birds and handled them well.Aldridge was handled by the extensive bench, and everyone who needed to step up performed well.When in battle with the University of Spoiled Children (USC) , Travis Walton showed incredible effort and the senior leadership that all good teams need to be a success in the NCAA tournament.Draymond Green, after spending the first half getting the crap kicked out of him by USC in typical "we paid the ref's" fashion, came alive and got his mean on in the locker room, giving a preview of what will happen to future Big Ten wannabe's.And what cant we say about Goran Suton? This guy is playing superior hoops right now,rebounding and scoring like The Red Army pushing a tired Wehrmacht out of the eastern front,even though he's a Yugoslav.Lets just say he's doing well and IM LOVING IT.Taj Whats-his-name got trod upon like a doormat at discount whorehouse.Summers,Allen,Ibok, all the bench stars are stepping up.Granted, USC is a PAC 10 team(yawn), but they did win their little league tournament I think and the guards they put on the floor just shot over the heads of the diminutive Spartan guards.They had no answer for the bench depth, as is the case in most Spartan victories.

In all seriousness, Kansas is a powerful team with a good coaching staff and prior knowledge of MSU and its season exploits.They surely are an improved team with adequate toughness and resolve , proven by surviving the rigorous Big 12 season.Them boys is rough out there in the cattle belt, or tornado alley if you prefer.With any luck and a decent shooting percentage MSU has all the tools to repeat the results from January.I really would like to see Kalin Lucas get off on the Jayhawks.Allen bombing from long range and Suton clearing the boards should be a challenge for KU's big center.If not, we have 3 more guys to throw at him, and it seems like the time is right for 'Quise to show up and deliver some dunks and assorted destruction under the rim.Izzo feels it.If Arizona beats the 'Ville and we survive Thunderdome against the Jaybirds, I think a trip to the Final Four looms large in the future.Bad things if my Spartans return to Detroit.Home games to the finals maybe.Maybe redemption against UNC.How sweet it would be.One step at a time though,lest we fall from foolish pride and false notions of superiority.Must be grounded and remember, to be a Spartan is to conquer your foes with guarded optimism, not arrogance or braggadocios bull crap.Fingers crossed.

Interesting is the ranting of market pundits.Recession, depression,slow down,bear market rally,etc,etc,etc.People who made billions in the market in the financial services industry with an astonishing sense of entitlement make me want to puke.Puke the likes the World Beer Pong judges panel would unanimously score perfect 10's.Congress decides to tax AIG retention bonuses at 90%.Nice move.Why not react to knee jerk reactions with more knee jerk reactions followed by the violent spasms of "outrage" congress shows during hearings.Barney Frank pointing his finger is definitely the pot calling the kettle black.Pay for performance is a suitable means of paying a salary bonus.Retention bonus pay is ridiculous.Either you need a job or you dont.How many business school graduates are here in this country that could easily slide right into the cubicle to replace the idiot who quit a job with incredible salary and benefits because the employer wouldnt pay said employee to stay.Retention bonus? Friday the 13th and at noon, MSU takes on Minnesota.We dominated the 'Phers on two occasions this year so I fully expect an outright massacre at Conseco.

True, I was wrong and I expected the Cats of Northwestern to take out the 'Phers, but true to form NW got the memo titled, " You guys still suck and dont bother showing up."Not only did they get it, they took it to heart.I dont like Carmody that much and I REALLY dont like Coble, so its no biggie.I hope that Minnesota represents a speed bump on our way to Conflicto Grande.

UM smashed its way to a match up with the Pennstate/Purdue winner and also secured its 20th win of this years campaign by humiliating Iowa.Deshawn Sims was responsible for 14 of UM's first 14 points and basically single handed bitch slapped the Hawks.As I anticipated, Iowa was taken off the morphine drip and allowed to fade away, not so gently.RIP Hawks, see you next year.UM goes on to face Illinois, and with the Frazier incident, I feel UM will defeat the Illini, thereby granting thier wish.A trip to the Big Dance.

Wisco and OSU square off tomorow with the winner getting the rare privilidge of facing the MSU/Minnesota winner.Wisconsins magic has come to an end and I maintain the Bucks will take them out, contrary to popular belief.OSU has got the edge in the attitude department I feel, and thats enough to overcome Wisco.We will see.If OSU makes a liar out of me, I will freely and wantonly urinate in Columbus at my first opportunity.And I will abscond with the Buckeye mascot uniform and sell it to the Taliban for use as a sexual device for camel insemination.

PennState did the trick and finished the Hoosiers off to set the table for the tournament upset.PennState defeates The Great Satan.You heard it here first.I have no logical reason to say this, I just have a stirring in my groin that says, "..purdue will lose...".Its either that, or the crabs I got from the prostitute I murdered in Bloomington this summer.Just kidding.I dont murder prostitutes, unless you count the merciless beat down I put on their mommy parts as a murder.Just kidding, I dont even like prostitutes.I never paid for it in my life.Except for that one time in college.Doesnt everyone have one of those "i did it one time in college" stories?Just kidding, I lost track how many times I did it in college.
I think on a preliminary basis, I expect UM to play MSU for the Big Ten tournament crown.In this game I see scores of UM fans jumping to their deaths from the rafters of Breslin Student Events Center EAST, formerly known as Crisler Arena.Rich rodriguez will hold a day of mourning, which all students will transfer out of in lieu of actually attending it and all form of living room furniture will be set ablaze in East Lansing as the Big Dance selection committee awards MSU a #1 seed avirtually a one way ticket to the finals and surely a drunken, drug crazed L.O.S.T debacle the likes of which scribes and historians will refer to as "The drunken,drug crazed debacle of 2009".And MSU will be the first 3 time Big 10 tournament champion, a record never to be equalled by any team until a meteorite strikes the earth and ends collegiate sports as we know it to exist.

Ahh yes.Revenge is sweet.The great Satan entered the Breslin Student Events Center and was sent home to West Lafayette to mull over the bitter taste of defeat.Although Purdue played excellent defense, squashing MSU's weak attempts to work the floor under the basket and entered the locker room with a lead at half,it wasnt enough.With the usual vocal crowd,and the motivation of the seniors wanting to leave Breslin on a winning note, Purdont succumbed to a 15-4 run to open the second half and a MSU squad that put the clamps on on the defensive end.LOTS and LOTS of whistles, but what would you expect from two physical teams?
Now its on to the Big Ten tournament.MSU,Illinois,Purdue,Wisconsin and Ohio State all have a bye for the first round and will play starting Friday.It all kicks off with Northwestern playing Minnesota.I think my predictions for Minnesota have been spot on, and Norhtwestern really bucked tradition by upsetting MSU and gathering more wins than anyone can remember.I think Minnesota will lose this one,even though Northwestern dropped its last game to OSU.I think the Cats are starting to realize they can win sometimes if they play hard enough.Minnesota has been on a slow slide from the onset when MSU squashed them at the Barn to open play.Northwestern moves on.Moves on to play the juggat natha MSU, who will attempt to win the tournament crown for the 3rd time, a Big Ten record.As always,cautious optimism is the hallmark of a Spartan, so we will take em out one at a time,hopefully.
Michigan plays Iowa in round one.What can you say about Michigan other than this.You need a bench, and three more starters.And a name change.And a new Arena, cause MSU has soiled the current one beyond repair.Michigan shocked two number 4 ranked teams including the most hated UCLA AND DUKE(who threw their legs up for UNC AGAIN), but is a Jekyl and Hyde team.We will see who shows up to play.The Hawks are Big Ten champs.....in wrestling....again.If basketball was all about take downs and firm grips on your opponents baby makers, the Hawks would surely dominate.This is not the case and I feel Iowa has their work cut out for them.UM really has no hope of NCAA invites, but they will show up none-the-less.Iowa goes home,remove shoe laces and belts.
Day two sends the Bucknuts to face Wisconsin.Wisconsin has performed exactly as I expected, all smoke and mirrors.Bo Ryan is an excellent illusionist.Wisco has fallen from the 31 win season(and subsequent exit of the NCAA's before Memphis sent MSU home..hehehehe) to a mere shell of its former self.Landry,Nankivill, and Krabenhoft will continue to overachieve and the 12 year old kid the have playing guard will chip in, but I feel that Ohio State has got big dance aspirations still, and they will come out with typical OSU savagery and enthusiasm.Thad Matta has convinced me he is the real deal.Sweaty, but the real deal none the less.Two men enter...one man leave...that man is Brutus, not Bucky.
I didnt forget PennState vs Indiana, I just think that this game is a footnote on the ass of time.Doesnt matter who wins.Credit PSU for a breakout season and a eyes closed miracle win at East Lansing for the first time in recorded history.Tom Crean might get lucky and push the Hoosiers to the upset.....no....wont happen.Sorry IU, sweet relief is coming when PSU kicks the plug and ends the pain.The great Satan will face the winner of this game and shall dominate them thoroughly so, in my eyes, its a giant DFM situation.
Illinois shall face the UM/Iowa winner.50/50 situation here.Im just not convinced that Illinois will put forth an adequate effort.If there ever was an upset in the making its right here.Bruce Weber has done his usual outstanding job coaching, but there is something soft about the Illini, I just cant put my finger on it.
Congrats to the Nittany Lions for a good season and to OSU for Thad Matta's 9th?, 20 win season. Accomplishments worth mention indeed.

A long last, a Big Ten

championship for my

beloved Michigan State.

How utterly sweet it is my

friends.The first outright

league title for MSU since 1999.

Feels real good.Especially after

sitting in Ford Field watching

the Tar Heels wipe the floor with

my boys.that sucked.That was December.A light year in basketball terms.We have had
a few firsts in this season of firsts.It marked the first time Penn State gathered a victory
in East Lansing...ever, fueled by a freakish performance by Talor Battle.Smearing the
Spartan good name felt natural to the Nowthwestern Wildcats who also gathered thier
first victory in East Lansing since 1984.Days of my pimple covered youth, 1984.
Everyone in Sparty land was optimistic to say the least when MSU took Minnesota
to the woodshed @ The Barn to open play in the 10, but we openly had no idea my
boys could walk into virtually every road game, kick in the door, drink all the beer,
smack all the ho's, pee in the corner, burn a couch and stagger into the sunset arm in arm
singing lustily ( is that a word?) by posting an incredible 8-1 record away from the confines
of the Bres. The Great Satan managed to trip up MSU at West Lafayette with the assistance of 30% shooting from the floor, 22 turnovers,and no Raymar.Oh well, State gets another crack at
The Great Satan on Sunday to close out the season.I hope they dominate in all possible
manner and send Purdue back home wondering about the future of Purdue basketball
in the scheme of the universe.
Of all the highlights, the game at UM was the best.After getting adequatley stiverized, my L.O.S.T tailgate crew drove up to Breslin Student events Center EAST ( otherwise known as
Crisler Arena), and with relentless defense and good foul shooting smashed the Wolverinoes
and further drove thier post season hopes into oblivion.TheMSU faithful , led in cheer by yours
truly and the L.O.S.T warriors successfully drowned out the UMies with thunderous "GO GREEN...GO WHITE" cheering in Crisler.So much so, we garnered mention from the screen AND
print media covering the game.All the little Wolverweenies scurrying around, upset with
the amount of MSU faithful in thier dump,especially after a clandestine effort by UM to close
ticket sales to the public so as to keep the crowd as pro UM as possible.To quote my friend
Morgan Hughes....FAIL....MISERABLE FAIL...HAHAHAHAHAHA.If UM manages to get past
Northwestern or whatever victim is first, chances are, we get anoter attempt to crush the tiny
intramural squad UM puts on the floor, en route to a possible Big 10 tournament title.
Lets not get ahead of ourselves, first things first.Thank you Coach Izzo , thank you Spartan
basketball players and thank you to all the MSU warriors for helping carry us to glory.

The Spartan Men's Basketball squad hit 5 three pointers in roughly a 2 minute stretch to take a 29-20 lead and did enough to hold the lead and capture their 3 Big Ten win and run the streak at the Breslin Center to 26 wins, the last defeat coming at the hands of OSU nearly two years ago.Overall, I think the effort was adequate, but the team lacked energy, and I'm really tired of seeing them shoot so badly from the stripe.What is so dang difficult shooting free throws.I am hardly an athlete, but I personally have hit 18 or more in a row before.Rhythm,rhythm,rhythm and a little bit of form.That's all there is to it.Suton had 9 points and 9 reebs or so, with Raymar Morgan adding a dubba dub.Kalin Lucas is working on becoming my fave player.Speed, smarts, skills, he's the whole enchilada.Could be a little bigger, but hey...hes good.OSU really needs Lighty on the floor and not on crutches or wearing a boot for that broken foot.B.J. Mullens is becoming on of my fave league players also.I think he will really contribute and do good things for OSU, as long as he stays.NO SENIORS on the floor for OSU.I think it sucks college athletics in some cases has become a revolving door to the pros.67-58 final score good for a 1/2 game lead on the stinking Badgers.Wisco will be a spot in the rearview soon enough I think(hope more like it).Michigan State(8) now rests for Conflicto Grande with Kansas.It oughta be a real track meet.
Item #2 for tonight is Penn State.Boy , those guys just never know when to say die, do they?Of course Purdont(14) didnt have Robbie Hummel or Chris Cramer due to injury, but considering PennState at one point had like a 18 point lead or something, with 3.5 minutes to go, makes you wonder if the Boilers would have done any better with them on the floor.Purdue(14) is now 0-2 to start league play and according to ESPN, they ended play 3-13 the last time that happened.It wont happen this time, I assure you.Moore chipped in 22 points or so, but it wasn't good enough.Penn State hung on scoring three more to outlast the Boilers 67-64.Statistically, Purdue(14) outclassed PennState in shooting, but committed 9 more fouls.In an upset victory over my Spartans(8) last year, PennState went to the line on 54 fouls compared to 18 by MSU.We lost...they flooded the floor.Penn State 2-1 in league now.First time that's happened in ... well...ever I think.Up next, the multiple ways I feel my boss is a douche bag........

Hello everyone, I have returned from a lengthly hiatus.This hiatus included several events.I was laid off from the job, so job seeking was involved and I had an interesting interview with some very important men regarding a very nasty situation I had been a victim to(no elaborations),a family meltdown,and it all started smelling better by Christmas time, and here we are.Now on to more important things, like a brand new year with new enthusiam and Big 10 roundball to start.

The green and white really come back strong from the humiliating loss to #1 North Carolina. League play has began and here's where we are:

Michigan State 2-0 (11-2) 7 wins consec.
Wisconsin 2-0 (11-3) 2 wins consec.
Illinois 1-1 (13-2)
Minnesota 1-1 (13-1)
Ohio State 1-1 (10-2)
Penn State 1-1 (12-3)
Iowa 1-1 (11-4)
The Great Satan 0-1 (11-3)
U of M 0-1 (10-3)
Indiana 0-1 (5-8) 4 loss consec.
Northwestern 0-2 (8-4) 2 loss consec.

Michigan State is off to another fine start with losses coming to Maryland and North Carolina.Key win so far being a road win against Texas in Houston.MSU opened league play with a solid performance in Minnesota giving the 'Phers their first loss of the season.MSU very methodically took apart Minnesota, with unselfish play and less than impressive shooting from the line.Credit to Tubby for calling TO's with the skill of a master chess player, but overall I feell Minnesota had no answer for Kalin Lucas and the value of the return of Goran Suton cant be overstated.In addition, Minnesota really gathered no help from the bench.Northwestern played tough for 1/2 of Saturdays game at Northwestern,but they quickly succumbed to the depth of the MSU bench, and the continued outstanding play of Summers,Allen,Lucas and Walton.Up next for the meat grinder is OSU on Tuesday at the Breslin.This will be our 5th home game this year, so OSU could be in the deep end of the pool with no floaties and sleeping parents.

Wisconsin.Smoke and mirrors, or a really well coached team of overacheivers?Scoring for Bucky's boys has come from Landry,Hughes(cool name), and Bohanon (looks like he's 12 years old,plays much older) with Krabenhoft and Nankivil chipping in.Bo Ryan almost has me convinced he is just that good a coach and recruiter.If it wasnt for the fact the Wisco had not had a 20 win season for 200 years or so before he arrived, I might feel differant.Wisco really only faced two quality teams and dropped both the games (Marquette and Texas).With a "upset" win at Michigan and a home squeaker win against Penn State, I think Wisco might have a rude awakening coming in the form of Purdue(The Great Satan) and Minnesota, with the only redemption coming from playing 'Sota at home.Jury is out, but I think Bucky and Bo will come crashing back to reality soon.

Illinois gathers scoring and production from 4 talented guys,Davis,McCamey,Meacham and Tisdale.Illinois is decent in rebounding and free throws and looks like a winner.I wont speculate on depth of post season play, but a trip to the dance should be expected for the Illini.A close loss to Clemson was a bit shocking to me, but the win at Purdue to open lit the candle of hope.That was quickly snuffed out by an embarassing loss to Michigan,yes Michigan, at Breslin East(formerly Crisler Arena).Illinois next 3 games include Indiana,Michigan again, and MSU at the Breslin Center on the 17th.3-0 best case, 1-2 probably reality.UM has a knack at gettng under the skin of some opponents, and I feel UM has got a shot at defeating Illinois again.Dont ask me why, I just feel it.

Minnesota gathered some good wins defeating Louisville and Virginia, and really has smoked all the teams they should have beaten.Good signs.They also got the job done against Ohio State.Hoffarber,Johnson,and Larry Westbrook are the studs for the 'Phers, but I have to say, almost the entire team has meaningful statistical averages, indicating Master Tubby is using all the weapons in the arsenal AND planting the seeds of experience to reap success in the future.The loss to MSU was a real let down and you could see it on all the faces at the Barn, however, the 'Phers showed some heart by stepping up and playing a highly emotional game against OSU that payed off.Next up is Iowa on the road.A difficult game possibly, if Iowa decides to show up.

Ohio State at 10-2 looks like a winner, but is it just a case of beer goggles? OSU did the 10 proud by smacking Miami(Fla.) in the challenge then edged a fair Notre Dame team only to get squished by West Va.This team obviously is suffering from losing 3 or so players to the NBA draft after short stays in Columbus and Anthony Crater bailing out doesnt help any.Not good.Thad Matta has gone from the coach I dislike the most to one I respect by winning when the odds are stacked against OSU.A close opening win against a hapless Iowa squad and the 9 point loss at Minnesota makes this team a last call sweetheart, or the best looking one left you could score with after a very long night at Lucky's.Scoring for OSU has been the task for Turner and Diebler, but again, like the Gophers, scoring and meaningful stats are present for the rest of the team.Thats good news.The bad news is this, OSU plays at the Breslin Center next.Unless the clouds part and the sun beams down on OSU, they will fall to Sparty,and it could be nasty.On the bright side, OSU will face Houston Baptist(church league) then go to hated rival Michigan to face a real 2 man show.Both W's I predict.

Penn State.What is there to say about Penn State, other than "you got whupped by USC also".Oh yeah, thats football....lets just let that go for now.With the only decent win coming against Georgia Tech followed by a solid defeat to Temple, Penn State is a mid to lower level team in the NCAA picture.A league opening win against Northwestern was nice, but 4 point loss AT Wisconsin almost looks better, or would if Wisco wasnt the David Copperfield of the Big Ten.Glowing from the upset victory over my spartans last year, I see no such possibility again, unless teams defeat themselves allowing the Lions to capitalize.Next up for PSU is Purdue at home.Bad things.The work load for PSU is bourne by Talor Battle(a real star),Jamelle Cornely and Stanley Pringle.All three shoot 3 point field goals REALLY well, and have solid skills, but they really dont get much help.Scoring dramatically drops off to less than a drip down the bench and the Lions have a issue with turnovers to assists.Dont expect much from PSU, just wait for the results of Joe Pa's hip replacement and look forward to next Football season.

Iowa averaging a paltry 64.5 points per game is lucky to be 11-4.With no real head turning wins and a real smackdown at the hands of Drake, Iowa doesnt impress.Scoring and rebounding are spread around ok, but this team lacks motivation, or at least they look that way.The opening loss to Ohio State looks like a real workmans effort compared to the struggle they put up against a VERY weak Indiana squad.Iowa only made scoring average in a win against Indiana, who sports 2, count em, 2 guys returning from last years team.This spells doom and despair for the Hawks.Good thing for them they won the Midlands wrestling tourney and backhanded South Carolina in the bowl game.The Hawkeyes could get some glory and spill from the stands to cover Carver Arena in Orgasmic joy, but only if the team they play is ranked and only if the ranked team shoots themselves in the groin first.Sorry hawks, but your not going anywhere.Next up, Minnesota at home.Hear that? Its Tubby salivating.

Purdue, or as I prefer to call them,The Great Satan, confounds with its performances.Just when your ready to say, "hey, these guys will probably win the 10", they drop a game to an inferior opponent.Purdue averaged around 78 or so points while allowing teams to score in the 50's for 8 games or so, only to lose to Oklahoma,a Big 12 team, which is punishable by broken glass enema then Duke by 16.This is only overshadowed by the "face in the pillow" treatment that UNC gave MSU.Purdue opened league play by dropping a game at home to Illinois by 4.Next up for TGS is Penn State AT PSU.If the Boilers rop this one, all bets are off, because they should dominate PSU. Moore,Hummel(I hate that guy), and Johnson are the workhorses, but scoring and rebounding are spread out nicely.The Boilers are a good free throw shooting team and have all the tools to succeed.Purdue wont get slapped until February when they will face MSU twice within 1 month.If they fail to at least split with MSU, the league title hopes could vanish for them assuming that MSU or TGS dont get stupid and lose some games in between.

Little sister,devil spawn or Sybil.What can you say about Michigan other than WOW.This two man show (Harris and Sims) has defeated TWO #4 ranked teams in UCLA and Duke, but lost to Maryland, got demolished by Wisconsin at home and dropped a game to Duke early on by 14 points or something.Who are these guys?Good ? Bad? Who knows whats going to happen next.I certainly didnt expect UM to be 11-3 AND beat Illinois for its first league win.Scoring drops off dramatically after Lucas-Perry(never trust someone with a hyphenated name).Credit the coaching staff to putting a system in place that the players are buying into.Lets all tip our glass and celebrate another sub-par year for this has been basketball program.The shine wears off soon folks.Big Ten play will not be kind to UM, because the 2 man attack is just to easy to stop.For UM to be a success they need all the help they can get.Sorry, just call 'em like I see 'em.With a trip to Indiana next, Iowa at home and then the payback at Illinois, I think UM will likely go 0-3 in the next 3 games.Yes, you heard it here first, Indiana will defeat UM at Bloomington.

Indiana Hoosiers.Kelvin, what have you done? The stain that Sampson put on Indiana has brought the Big Ten down.This formerly great institution has been diminished to an after thought due to mass exodus in the post-Sampson era.Tom Crean is the real deal and being a Heathcoat prodigy will elevate this once great school to the plateau of excellence it once stood on.But not now.And not for about 4 more years or so.Indiana will not win more than 10 games this year.Credit the soldiers on IU's squad for getting out of bed everyday only to get kicked in the jimmy by a guy with 12 legs.IU has crushed all the ITT Tech teams its faced only to get wiped out by everyone else.If anyone out there has a soft spot in their hearts for a true underdog, embrace the Hoosiers,tell them it will be allright, then put a bullet in their head.Its that bad, and its not getting better anytime soon.Im a former lover of Indiana,and after an amicable split, it pains me to see them suffer.This should be one of the teams that elevates the Big Ten.Good luck boys, keep fighting,look down the road to better times.

What can one say about the loveable Cats of Northwestern? They stink.They do more with less in ALL Big Ten sports.They dominate the broadcast staff of the Big Ten Network.These guys will likely finish ahead of Indiana, but maybe not.They have a small squad and shoot the 3 pointer pretty good.They play with lots of heart, but have no bench, and I feel, less coaching.Carmody doesnt impress me much.Not that Im John Wooden, just my opinion.The Cats will struggle to get 4 league wins and have no hope for post season, unless the luck of the gods falls on them and they rip off MANY upset wins.Look to the Cats to fork over win after win to the big meanies that they play week after week.

Bailout?

Lets clarify a few things for everyone who hasnt got a clue.
#1 A loan or line of credit is not a "bail out". The congressional debacle that was the life ring AIG received is a bail out.Has anyone asked who was asleep at the switch while the largest insurer in the US fell into financial insolvency.All us "little people" pay for various forms of insurance.Am I the only one who thinks "bailing out" an insurance vampire..I mean company...is like deliberately letting someone crap in your mouth.
#2 The Big 3 have captured , or should I say, retain, about 50% market share here and around the world, regardless of the fact that market share has been in decline.This puts some 350-400 BILLION dollars back into the good old USA.Thats a lot of money folks.
#3 The foolish notion that the carmakers refused to produce fuel efficient vehicles is just poppycock.North America wanted trucks and SUV's and guess what, you got em.The President of the USA travels on the ground in a Chevrolet Suburban, not a Camry, or a nifty Honda.Refitting car factories and the subsequent chain of supply ( yes, there are millions of Americans working for far less than UAW guys) takes time even if the engineering of these vehicles was sitting completed on the shelf.Doesnt happen overnight folks, sorry.Lest we forget that oil was 140 bucks a drum in JULY(Wall Streets doing, you know the guys who got paid by Paulson).Less than six months is not enough time to pump out 15 or 16 million cars from scratch that get 50 mpg and look like a Scion or whatever mainstream feels is flashy enough to set them apart from the rest of the sheep.
#4 The myth of quality is a reflection of ownership in part.Granted, Detroit has pushed out some stinkers, no doubt.Guess what, we didnt buy em and they went away.Generally speaking, people do not maintain their vehicles anywhere near the amount they should.Most people never even pull out the owners manual and read it.So its not a big shock when the engine in the shit box Cavalier that they pushed 80+ mph down the freeway for 145000 miles gives up."I changed the oil regular"..translation:when the light in the dash came on I slowed down and drove it another 22 miles while ripping of the Valvoline sticker that said I was due 4 months ago for an oil change off the windshield.After all, who has time between texting and TV dinners to change oil, besides its a whole 18 bucks!!!
#5 The upper midwest has gotten a bad rap for a long time.If I here one more thing about how nifty east coast or west coast living is, I promise you I will lay down an old fashioned "Detroit leaning" ass whuppin.Provincial thinking is comical at best but why not? Them folks out there ain't happy with nothin including themselves.Fake tits,ass, you name it.Therapy and anti psychotics for everyone.Paris Hilton,OJ Simpson, David Beckham..who gives a crap.And New Yorkers especially,are critical of everything, and solve nothing.It takes no talent to complain.I have immediate family that reside in New Hampshire.Love em, love to visit, cant stand their paranoid, conspiracy driven view points on EVERYTHING.To all the teenage, misguided souls who despair at being trapped in the boring Midwest, remember, 99% of quality of life is what you put in.Therefore, if your life sucks, YOU SUCK.
#6 Heavy manufacturing and manufacturing base in general is what propelled this country through 2 world wars, oil embargo,hostage crisis,Vietnam,you name it.If we cant make it here, it usually isnt worth having and definitely not worth what you pay.This country will fall into 3rd world status if the only jobs to be had are serving coffee at Starbucks to the 1% of the population who control 90% of the wealth.We wont even be growing the goddamn coffee people.In all reality, its possible to attribute the manufacturing technology and capability in Asia AND Europe in part to strides made right here in the USA.
#7 To have Congress, of all people, criticise auto execs is ludicrous.Was anybody looking when Congress ran up, what is the number, some 450 billion in deficit.These guys are telling auto execs how to run car companies? Really, please.Wall Street calls on Friday, gets a check on Monday, and the source of 400 billion dollars in revenue, has to come with hat in hand for a friggin loan??!!!?? Is this REAL??? If NAFTA giving us the ole SHAFTA wasnt enough,heres some more shit sandwich to chew on.Dumbass Ross Perot said "you'll hear this sucking sound from Mexico".Guess he was right on that one.Maybe not the aliens and Admiral Whats his name,but job and manufacturing losses to foreign countries is starting to hurt.
FREE TRADE IS NOT FAIR TRADE.This is a fact.
In summation, lets be clear on things indisputable.If health care was run properly and efficiently in this country, legacy costs for the Big 3 would be a non-issue.If trade deficits were more in line, it wouldnt be profitable to outsource manufacturing of ANYTHING.If Congress wasnt for sale (see former Governor of Illinois),maybe failure of leadership would not be commonplace here in the "greatest country on earth", and people could flourish and WE ALL COULD BE MORE WEALTHY.Lastly, Congress sitting back in leather chairs, Barney Frank pointing the handle of his gavel, raking the automakers over the coals to direct attention from the fact that this country hasnt had a real Energy policy, is sickening.Reprimand for dumbassery, such as Kucinich(10th district Ohio) to the Fannie & Freddie crooks, is understandable.Let us consider our terms (bail out) and views(upper Midwest get poorer BIG TIME) more closely, shall we?

From what I understand, "gunpow" is a

river after part of the bridge gave way.No one was

killed, but it scared everyone and badly

injured the engineer and fireman.The moral is that it was one hell of a mess and everyone made

it out but not without some horrible injuries. Anyway, with jobless rates on the move up, and lay offs for everyone and their brothers, it looks as if economic HARD TIMES are here.How this happened, Im sure will reveal itself over time.So far, Im making it ok.My investments have been annihilated.My personal performance went from +22% over two years to -53% since October of this year.In September, my trades made me 26% or so.I have maintained about a 33% cash ratio, so Im able to move a little.Hedge fund redemption's, Insurance Company government bail outs (I just dry heaved), and a bridge loan for the Big 3 coupled with a dramatic deflation of commodity prices marinated in oil that ran at 145 bucks a barrel in JULY.July was 4 months ago people.What changed, besides the fact that we all poured our cash into a gas pump during the first 7 months of 2008.This is the funny part...no really, here it comes....these greedy dumbasses never thought that Americans would drive less after fuel prices fell.Companies who make other goods that we consume never dropped prices after fuel declined, and after other commodity prices declined.SOooOOooo....what we got here is....failure to control a deflationary spiral we are falling into as a whole.Fed moved to late...credit markets seized...decline of real estate value accelerated...unemployment increases burden on states as small cap business crumbles due to credit issues...fed sits on hands more...food AND fuel prices stay elevated further pressuring the consumer (70% of the US economy is consumer driven I think)...etc...etc...etc.

Well, I ve had enough.I have sold off stock, accepted the loss where it occurred, and Im moving on.Now I shall trade MUCH MORE AGGRESSIVELY.This last hour selling at market has created an environment where electronics are king.So I shall indulge them.I always traded with limit orders, but now the volume and % ratios must enlarge and tighten.I have several stock picks in mind that move rapidly, are in cash heavy companies with little or no debt.Most pay dividends also, so thats a plus.Time to get back into the game.Not by choice, but by necessity.Job outlook is bleak.Not impossible, but bleak.That creates a demand for alternate cash flows.I wanted to stay on the sidelines longer, but its not possible.More people trade using computer algorithm programs and 80% of all trading is electronic, so I shall use my calculator instead of common sense to defeat them.Even some big wig "professional" managers use software to trade as opposed to the usual stuff, like..well..#1 does the company earn money?...#2 do they have customer/sales prospects...#3 how much do the insiders v.s. mutual funds own...Debt/equity, and so on. If Under Armor (UA) was a bit cheaper, I'd jump on that one on fundamentals.I made some money this spring on a decline and subsequent bounce in (UA).I have entered the trades for tomorrow, so we shall see what occurs.Im wagering DOW down.Maybe a bounce , when Congress says it will throw a bone to GM.I think money or not, bankruptcy is inevitable for several auto makers.

..ASS.OMG,am I disappointed.North Carolina did a number on us.At one point in the second half, I seriously thought about pulling the wiring out of my seat back and wrapping it around the neck of the UNC faithful within eyesight.I also informed the crowd, after UNC failed to miss the basket in 15 straight trips down the court, that ALL TARHEELS have sold their souls to the devil.The best part of the night was bullshitting with the greek national that parked the truck.That was a funny guy, with great teeth and a great sense of humor.Greektown Casino and the downtown area was pretty lively for a Wednesday night.Ford Field is a great facility, far to nice for the slugs that play there.Its far to cavernous for basketball, but I bet live music would work really good.All the players I mentioned including Tyler " the 2nd coming of Larry Bird" Hansbrough, or Tyler "all my moves are spin left,spin right, throw my arms over my head because I cant jump, and Im an acting minor" Hansbrough,Tyler "you can audibly hear Dick Vitale masturbating to my roster photo" Hansbrough scored with relative ease.Tom Herzog, the 7ft freshman for MSU was a shining star with 6 points,4 reebs, 1 block in 3 minutes of play.Raymar Morgan scored 20, so Problem#1 is solved.There is no truth to it.UNC shot the ball very well, played aggressive defense (we got NO calls from the refs) with out getting caught,and did I mention they shot like 3,456% floor?I kinda wish this game was played at the Breslin Center, but I dont think the outcome would have been different.I respect that MSU tried to work the ball down low, but UNC had a good enough strategy and the transition play by UNC was executed with precision.
As anticipated, Lawson and Ellington scored and played very good ball.Another defeat for Big Ten teams in the challenge.The only comforting thought is the fact that typically there are a couple Big Ten teams in the great 8 NCAA tournament round, and usually the ACC has one team left.UM lost to Maryland, but handled them better than MSU did.We could have used Goran Suton.I hope this knee thing doesnt linger on all season.The buckeyes got a victory, so kudos to them guys.Iowa had a real chance , but had a meatclubber 21% freethrow shooter on the line to tie the game apparently, and failed to do so.All in all, we got our collective ass whupped, and it well.....sucked.Yeah, that's a good word for it.....sucked.Like a chest wound.

Michigan State at Ford Field

Finally, Ford Field will have TWO teams worth watching on it.No, it's not the Lions, lord knows that is the worst football team in the history of the world.Its MSU versus North Carolina.Michigan State continues to show why its regarded a top notch program by playing ranked teams month after month.And they should.With a top level coach and talent pouring into East Lansing like tequilla into my gut,MSU gains that valuable BIG GAME experience before critical Big 10 play begins.Everything is peachy,right? Not so.Some things have become glaring problems stemming from the loss to Maryland and the subsequent 5th place finish at the Old Spice Classic. 5th place??? five...place???? Yep,color me completely disgusted.
Problem #1:Right now, the sun rises and sets for MSU on how Raymar Morgan plays.Morgan scores, MSU blows 'em out. Raymar has poopy pants, MSU loses.
Problem#2:Maryland executed the same play, pushing the ball into the center, guard sets a pick then breaks to the corner.Ball kicks back out, guy in corner WIDE FRICKIN OPEN.The dumbass helping double the center(not necessary against the weak center Maryland has) NEVER WENT WITH THE GUARD SETTING THE PICK.Maryland scored at least 9 points on this play.Backdoor passes with MSU defenders giving distant chase also hurt.
Problem#3:MSU gets few enough chances at the line, so we need to shoot 70% or better from the charity stripe.MSU shot less than 50% ,if I recall, against Maryland AND Witchita State.

North Carolina is good at most posistions and should be a difficult challenge.That being said, MSU can defeat, no, dominate NC if all goes right.Fouls must be controlled and we need to get all the points we can from the stripe.NC has not got the answer for Lucas, and Allen,Roe(my current fav player)Summers and Walton ALL need to pour in points.With good foul shooting and equally fair shooting from the floor, MSU should do fine.
You can expect Ellington,Lawson and Green to get off for a bundle of points, and OF COURSE the player I hate the most in all college sprots history, Tyler Hansborough.I'm so sick of that guy, you have no idea.I maintain, if Hansborough plays anywhere other than NC with the supporting cast he has, Tyler is average at best.Put this guy in a Penn State uniform, and he becomes a footnote on the box scores week after next.He requires a man and a third coverage on defense.Me no likey him.Opinion of course, but mine none the less.

My absenteeism aside, the results for PSU vs MSU are in.
We got smacked around.A few fair weather UM fans chortled about it, and the speculators all shook their heads in agreement, but I am very pleased with it.
Whats this? you say.Yes I said "pleased".Why? 9-3 record baby.Second straight bowl game, higher up the scale than last year.Oh yeah!It was indeed a great year to be a Spartan.We crushed UM at the big house.First time since 1990.I cried.We crushed the hopes of Notre Dame.I urinated freely uponst them.I got to tailgate with the players parents AND won at cut throat road Bocce AND saw my team put they boots firmly on the wind pipe of IU @ IU.
I saw Kirk Ferentz and Iowa push all in to win and Adam Decker knifed through the Hawkeye line and dropped Shon Greene like bad habit.MSU wins.I riot screamed at the field as time expired and the Wisconsin Badgers hung their heads in shame after virtually "giving" MSU the win.Boohoo Bucky.See ya next fall beyotch.I remember the taste of my own blood in my mouth as I walked away from the shameful display against Ohio State.My head held high, because I was on my way to smack around the Wolverines the next Saturday.I remember the hair raising on my neck when I read my friend Morgans blog review on MSU.Give up he said.Not this time, not this year.All one can do is judge from track record, and ours sucked.Fair enough.Morgo and I watched as my team made positive steps toward the higher levels and Ohio State continued to demonstrate why most people LOVE to HATE Ohio State.They win.Plain and simple.Year after year.Glorious bastards.Football mentors for up and coming programs.
No, Im not disappointed with anything.2008 MSU football campaign has been one hell of a good time.It feels good to walk proud and be part of something larger than yourself.My LOST brothers and sister entered Spartan stadium just as we have every home game for the last 6 years or so and counting, and brought our section to life.If I heard it once, I heard it 9 times,"Ok, here they (Georgie and me) come, now things can catch fire".I chucked hands full of Skittles at all sorts of folks.The tequila flowed and the Jager separated the men from the boys.We consumed 9-750 ml bottles of silver Tequila, 10-750 ml of Triple Sec,8-750 ml Jagermeister,7-750ml of UV flavored vodka (to which there is a usage ban in place) and beer by the boat load.Not one single puke incident, and one digger pulled by a guest.Smashing success indeed.We had a wonderful menu this year that included pork loins,marinated steaks,Taco bar,all sort of sausages and brats,my hickory smoked hamburgers,grilled shrimp,etc,etc.
My team BEAT the Ara Parsegian October curse.NO MORE 0 for October.NO MORE same old Spartans bull crap.Heart felt thanks to all the players,coaches and supporters of MSU football for all the sacrifice, hard work, and dedication to the single purpose of winning games and staying humble in the 2008 campaign.Bravo.Bravo.

This is by far the biggest stretch I have encountered yet, but here goes.

My bestest friend Georgie,hard core MSU,and the only Michigan fan I will ever respect, besides my wifes entire family, Dave ( whom I shall attack in blog form later), have been replaying a abundance of Top 20 college football matchups using the latest NCAA football game.This includes all the MSU and UM games played this year.They are about evenly matched players I suppose, and drinking definitely has been a factor.The results have been stunning, to say the least.

These two playstation prophets have accurately predicted the outcome of every game before its played at a staggering 90+ % clip.Texas vs Oklahomo, the UM loss to Toledo, the meteoric rise of Texas Tech,Ohio States loss to PennState, Iowa failing at MSU, the works. Each week its like having a sneak peak into Saturdays events. The results are in for the seasons end.

MSU defeats Penn State on the road, and UM upsets OSU.No, you say? The PS3 prophets say different and have the record to back it up.The scoring has even been similar.

Now, back to reality.I dont think UM is going to beat OSU.No way, no how.I dont care if first year UM coaches are 11-1-1 vs OSU.This UM coach is not the same caliber as these other boobs and this OSU team is WAY solid on defense.UM might not score.MSU however, is riding the crest of a banner year for Coach D and the Spartans, and have defeated virtually the same PSU team from a year ago in what I have phrased as the Orgasmarama at Spartan Stadium 2007.

The party starts at high noon for the"Game", and shall be capped off by the rumble at the Beave.Probably Joe Paterno's last game as head coach of PSU.Mainstays such as Joe Paterno and Purdues Joe Tiller have brought many great moments to our Big Ten and should Joe Pa call it quits, cheers to you and thanks for the memories.

I just had a feeling.Deep down , something was fishy.I walked into the restroom and it hit me.My underwear is on backwards.How out of it do you have to be to put on boxer shorts backwards and not notice.Oh boy.
That was almost as funny as a family dinner from a LONG time ago.My dad and I were at each others throats as usual.After saying in no uncertain terms, that he(dad) was gonna kick me so hard, my ass would be a hat if I didn't close my ham hole, he hoisted a juicy wonderful coney island hot dog from his plate.Rolling my eyes and attempting to look meek, my eyes lowered into sub-surveillance mode.With the other hand , pops grabs up a plastic bottle of fancy mustard.While we are here, what the hell is "fancy" mustard? Is there a guy somewhere in Pennsylvania with a hair net and sore feet sampling mustard, and with a powerful resonating tone says "FANCY!!".All the mustard underlings run off to do various tasks.And what is the lower grade of mustard? It probably has pine needles in it, or lint or something.
Anyway, he turns the bottle to apply his condiment and whoosh.The entire bottle empties into his hand and begins to run down his arm.He held the pose motionless, observing his work.I snorted, turned my head and laughed.I mean, fell off on one knee, gasping for air and chuckling like the Pillsbury dough boy, but more baritone.After several minutes, I stood straightened my shirt and turned to sit down.When I wheeled around , his arm was still raised in a thinker position, but now his head was turned and his lips pierced in disgust.The mustard welling around his elbow, I asked through tears and more snorting," can I get you a napkin dad?".
His mouth dropped open a bit and he couldn't hold it."no, no thanks", he laughed.That reminds me of a dinner we had at Elias Brothers.The waitress took our order, and literally had to comeback and ask for a substitution for EVERYTHING we ordered.My pops and I started in on her, and everyone else in ear shot, and started laughing and carrying on.Every time this poor woman came back to the table it provided 15 more minutes of material.
If a person can do something unnatural with their bodies,like put their whole fist in their mouth, or press the soles of the feet together behind the head, what a magical moment it must have been when the discovery was made.Like, "..hey! wow! I can stuff a whole zucchini in my ass!! I cant wait to tell my friends!!".A better CSI would be, what happened to the vegetable after this act.My fame lies in what I cant do.Like,snap my fingers.I cant do it.A simple thing for most, my snap sounds like a Ohio blue tip match running up zipper teeth.I have gotten counseling for my self image problems stemming from a complete lack of flexibility in my fingers.It was rough, but I'm OK now.I cant swim fast either.I look like a flesh tone World War 2 landing craft making its way to Utah beach.It sucks, Ive got little kids and ankle humper dogs orbiting me in the water, people on shore pointing and covering their mouths in shock like they're seeing a pod of killer whales attacking a larger whale.I am a wonderful driver though.I LOVE cars.All my cohort loves going for a ride.They're scared to death, but they all have that uncomfortable smile.When I got my Benz, my wife was thrilled.She says," that's real nice Cary....nimble and 270 h.p....great".Like a big dummy, I pipe up,"17 inch rims, and it corners flat as a tabletop!!".She doesn't get it.Nothing fancy really.Souped up C230.Two less doors than the standard 230 and its a Kompressor.Helped that the dealer practically gave it to me price wise.I have lost my train of thought.Let us talk sports next.

Im sitting in the dark of night, red glow of my cigarette the only light.I dont smoke, but tonight, I do.My eyes look into the future, and I see a world in evolution.Maybe mankind is on the edge of some natural catastrophe that signals a drastic change in society as a whole. The destruction of society.We collapse under our burden.I cant predict that, but it seems plauseable enough.Or maybe we have some great evolution of thought, where the masses start to see what REAL power is.Not armies, not destructive forces of mans creation.The flowing waters that scour the surface, the unending cycle of birth,life, renewel as fire sweeps over the landscape.Wind and rain combining to demonstrate just how tiny and fragile we really are.Not necessarily a technological revolution either, perhaps a departure from technology actually.A return to provincial thinking coupled with an overwhelming desire by mankind to preserve culture instead of controling it.The death of Ideaology and the birth of acceptance and tolerance.I feel the roots are there in generations living now.I can sense it.A moment in time where social awareness in all its forms penetrates all corners of the world.We have to many people now, to many needs.Nature will select us soon.We tip the balances and our world will correct.I think we will survive.Maybe a shortage in Mountain Dew and video games, but we will make it.
Im so old fashioned its sick.I still think a man should honor his word, and try to grow self respect,and repay loyalty.Stand up for what you believe right, and humble yourself when proven wrong.I can hear things in peoples words that they dont even know they are saying.A cry for help, a bitter heart, a true survivor,a caretaker of people,and a predator.I dont pretend to have skills of perception that others dont have.The differance is life experience training versus professionally educated skills.Iam easily betrayed because of my belief in absolutes.Honor.Tolerance.Pride.Karma.Sacrifice.Respect. I dont always give all of this or emulate it, but I think its what everyone should strive for and respect in others.
My cat sits on my lap and cares not for what the world has, except for this moment in time we share.Right now.Good kittycat.Siamese are the best cats ,bar none.Mine is at least.He loves me and mommy...period.The dog trots off with whoever is interesting right now, but there is no doubt....that is my cat.From the first time we met, I knew he was for me only.Good boy.My dog was the same way.He captured me instantly.Curious bond we can form with animals.Commune with them.Its a shame when people cant/dont experience this.

At this point in my life, I had rejected college, rejected the Marines, and had fallen after foolish pride and the plotting of others had rendered me unemployed and sinking fast. I had nothing, and my mother booted me out of my own house (I mean 50% owner, like with deed) after less than 14 days back after two years of surviving on my own. I was cut in pay due to the schemeing of two drunks who worked at my plant. On one fateful day, I got tired of always waiting on this alcoholic inspector to do her job, so I made waves. She got a talking to, but no other reprimand.Over the course of the next 6 months , these gals sabotaged my work, getting me demoted. This enraged me , and in my youthful wisdom (yeah right), I said these woman were human garbage, and no way was the company going to do this to me."Full of empty threats" I said.They cut me 3 bucks per hour, and cut hours. I went downhill fast, as I was used to living on BIG MONEY, and hadn't learned about living beyond my means yet.When I quit, it was the first time since I was 13 years old (old enough to legally work in Michigan) that I didnt have a job. And I couldnt find work. No one would hire me, no jobs to get really. I hustled cash, mowing yards and helping old ladies and such, but just gas money.Anyway, after two nights in the car, with my last uncashed check in hand, I sought out my childhood married friend, George. When I pulled up, the front door burst open, and out stormed shawn, his wife.She walked past me down the street.George come out a miute later, got in my car and said,"cary, she's moved out, we're getting a divorce.what you doin here?".We drove to Lansing and back, and talked in depth about how messed up our lives had become.Needing a roof, and George needing half the bill money, he let me move in that night.I gave him my last paycheck and said if I wasnt working at the end of the month, I was leaving. I always pay my own way, always.The next day,George called home and put me on the line with his boss, Bob Petersen.I started work that night washing dishes in Bobs restaraunt.I thank God I was blessed with a job at Bobs place, because I was given a meal every shift I worked, so really, I didnt have to buy food. If I got a job at a gas station, I would have starved to death.The november of that year, George and I had to pay out everything we made, and still didnt make ends meet.We had the utilities shut off for 3.5 weeks, in november, in Michigan, until we gathered 300 dollars to get service again.Seems, prior to the split up, Georges wife had NOT paid the energy bill.From December of 1991 through April of 1992, I was in court getting sued for money, every week.Once a week folks."Is this your debt Mr.Ellis?""yes sir.""Are you trying to pay it back?""yes sir""judgement plaintiff".More penalties,more court costs.Thanksiving dinner was a ham pizza and we split a 2 litre of Coke.I had lost my money, all my friends except 3, my reputation, and most of all, I had disappointed my family. My Grandparents, who were the only positive role models in my whole stinking life looked at me and said,"What happened Cary? You ALWAYS do well, but you have failed.Maybe we were wrong about you."Rock bottom.Tough love, smart grandparents.They knew just where to go.I wept that night.The next day, I woke up and made a plan.Bankruptcy is the answer now.My granddad said,"cary dont do this, we will pay your stuff off, and you can start fresh..".With the resolve of George Patton, I said "no thankyou."The best thing I ever did for myself.Its what Iam most proud of, with out a doubt.I stood up, dusted off, and suffered, and worked, and learned.I never looked back.Things didnt improve very fast at all, but I steadily got better jobs, got training, got college, and just plain got on.

People who ...salesman specifically, who say,"this is a must have".I reply,"you got one?", to which they look to the floor and tell you what they prefer, which isn't what they're trying to send you home with.Any usage of the phrase,"...hey, I've got black friends, but...", makes me want to drive a steel rake into this persons head.Old dumb asses who say,"that stock market..i don't want nothing to do with that goddamn stock market...".Where do you think your savings is invested wad?Get a clue.Drunk guys who wanna try me out(short,red headed loud guys who think they can fight shitfaced).Drunk guys who kick my ass even though they're drunk (never happened, but it would suck).People who say," if we didn't invade Europe, we would all be speaking German now..", shut up you don't know crap about ww2 tactics.Any person(s) who cant figure out what the funny arrows pointing left or right mean at the end of streets and at traffic lights, or a flashing friggin yellow light.That one really drives me wacko.Some dork pulls up to a flashing yellow while you roll up on the stop sign or red signal, then this guy stops in front of you and waves you on.You wait, because you HAVE to stop, and this dink stays right there.Then someone pulls up to the red across from you and the dork in the middle of the road is now frantically waving you both through in front of yellow flasher guy.That REALLY gets me.No signal, multiple lane changers rolling to a red light, who cut off two or more lanes guy makes me wanna commit crime.I once shouted,"use the F'in signal bitch!!" so loud inside my car (with the windows up) this broad heard it and flew me the bird.Anyone who spends 35 minutes trying to align a car to a gas pump, because they just have to slide in there somehow because there is no way they can wait and follow the flow of cars, makes me angry.

These things make me happy, and want to give hugs and kisses to even the most talentless rat bastard.Finding a $20 bill anywhere.Someone who rolls up to a red light and actually stops to let you in AHEAD of them, you rock mister.Anyone who sees you drop a $20 bill and picks it up and runs after you saying,"hey this is yours!!".Free car washes by teenage church girls in fringed jean shorts and charity 10k shirts.3am runs to anywhere for doughnuts or fast food.Nothing says "comfort me" like a bacon cheeseburger at 3 am.Finally getting a rare, out of print book you have been looking for for years.Tailgates at MSU while the sun shines and the breeze blows.Watching the Detroit Lions stink up the joint.Well, not WATCH.That's a waste of time, you know whats going to happen.Main reason I'm a Green Bay fan from baptism.Eccentric, artistic 50 something people who like to discuss the order of the universe, and show you the "grow lights" they recently obtained.Home cooked food.A friend asked me once, "if your going to die, and you were served a last meal, what would it be?".Without hesitation, i replied "a medium rare grilled steak, fried potatoes, corn on the cob,sweet vinegar cucumbers and onions, chocolate mousse and unsweetened iced tea".That makes me happy, and full.Local fairs/festivals and celebrations make me happy.Locals in their element,smiling and laughing.That makes me happy.A really fast car with a throaty exhaust tone makes me happy.A E55 amg Mercedes-Benz would make me REALLY happy.Honest, caring, AVERAGE folks make me happy.Average people like these are the heroes of battle fields, nurses and doctors who hold your hand while they break bad news,people who cry tears of joy when YOUR kids are born, drop what they are doing to rescue a small cat/dog in distress, and anyone who does something because its "the right thing to do".They make me happy.Respect for my struggles , even when you have had a harder life, makes me happy.That first tee shot after surgery and 6 months of rehab from a broken wrist.That made me happy.Bowling a 1058 pin / 4 game series made me unbearable.The game that was thrown out was a paltry 218.That reminds me of playing one on one at Godfreys b-ball court and running off 14 straight games.I'll bet I shot 75% from the arc that night.I had my Phoenix Suns/Charles Barkley jersey and shorts on that night.The guys waiting to play started getting pissed at one another because no one could touch me.That was great.Walking at the Relay for Life made me happy.Anything that lifts people from the sadness of the big C makes me happy.

Congress is once again meeting and discussing.Talkie talking.All the while our combined wealth is destroyed day after day.The trend was to liquidate pension plans and let the IRA and the 401(k) be the vehicle to retirement land.Bull crap.People aren't capable of managing their own finances.Not because THEY are incompetent, no, not at all.The irresponsible actions going on board rooms and amongst boards of directors in MANY MANY companies coupled with the US governments incredibly slow and pathetic attempts to redirect credit shortages have brought us down.There is another matter to consider, and that is collusion and hoarding.Commodity prices spiked worldwide, due in large to consolidation worldwide in mining and petroleum/petroleum services industries.I believe the commodity bubble in copper and metals was due to China buying all the copper they could import, there by tipping the market in an attempt to control prices.This failed as Phelps Dodge/Freeport McMoran and like mining companies consolidated dropping the total number of miners to buy from.China cant control the market if there are only 2 suppliers.The knee jerk response to 5.00 per gal gas was to use ethanol.A Bush administration that failed, as many before have, to construct ANY type of energy policy ,came out on TV and spouted all sort of crap about how efficient Brazil is in its energy Independence, and how corn based ethanol is the key to the future.Oh, we didn't think this out.We EAT F@#$ING CORN PEOPLE.Jesus, if we found out chickens could make airplanes fly, we wouldn't stop eating them.We would starve to death so that American Airlines could live.Not me, screw American Air.I have seen THOUSANDS of dollars I busted my ass to earn disappear because of poor government policy (tar and feather them) , irrational trading on wall street (Valiums distributed at the doors of the exchanges), greed (CEO's, scratch that,any executive of a public company earning more than any 5 employees salaries combined make to much money,tar and feather) ,greed II, the sequel( lending money to anyone who could fog a mirror) and lastly, a war in the middle east that our leaders had no plan on winning.Not like popular notions like they didn't have an exit strategy, like I mean they didn't want to win.The military sucking up oil and destroying equipment keeps the oil barons cashed up, the defense contractors fat and happy (were I earn a portion of my money), the body bags flying, and American and European AND Asian companies cooking whilst they build a bridge, the enemy tears it down, we build the bridge , the enemy tears it down, and so forth.A simple and completely partially informed opinion, but mine none the less. The government is considering bridge loans and financing for the auto industry.What the hell are they thinking about.Fork over the cash bitches.It was industry in this part of the country that built the equipment to win WW 2.It was transportation and the ability to move goods fast across this country, that enabled us to grow.If the Big 3 fail, someone tell me whats the diff if I get the equivalent of a government subsidy in the form of bridge loans to help auto makers and all the suppliers and workers down stream,like me, or I lose my job and draw unemployment benefits and then welfare because industry is gone.I see the diff as such : SUBSIDY=I WORK AND PRODUCE SOMETHING FOR MY MONEY or WELFARE=I MAKE NOTHING,AND PASS BURDEN ON TO OTHERS.

On a cold and overcast day, Purdue struggled while MSU does enough to win.The defense played well, and the game plan was solid.Mid way through the 3rd quarter, one of the guys in my row got up to go to the head and as he approached me , he smiled and said," I'm coming back,OK?".
At first I didnt get it.About 30 seconds later I realized that the kind gentleman was one of the folks I growled at during the OSU game."Get out, we dont need you anyway!!!", I said. I was embarassed at first, then Jamie nudges me and laughs."I cant help it Jamie, Im a passionate type guy and I have no tolerance for fairweather fans", I said."You'r either on board or your an enemy, there is no inbetween".
The team looked focused and in control at all times, as it should be against a weak opponent like TGS.Its a shame Joe Tiller is going out like he is, but thats life in West Lafayette (bitch slapping IU, and sucking last tit to Notre Dame).It seems that Iowa, by virtue of upsetting Penn State, has put us in a posistion where we have to win at PennState, and OhioState has to lose for us to get a shot at the Trojans.O Fortuna needs to assist us.Not to poo-poo on OSU, but they must fall, somehow.MSU must win, somehow.We beat essentially, the same PennState team last year at home, so we have a shot.MSU MUST PLAY PERFECT FOOTBALL.The Nittany Lions dont make errors and after the loss to Iowa, hopefully they are all moping around, the coaching staff having removed all the shoelaces and belts, pondering the loss. The crowd in the Beave should be volatile at a minimum, so MSU has a slimmer chance. We have a similar structure to Iowa team wise, with a better passing game and a better defense, but a slightly less effective running back, so we match up well. With an extra week to heal wounds and sharpen the spear, I think Coach D should have our guys ready to go.An OSU loss would mean an outright Big Ten title for Spartan nation,assuming we manage a victory at PSU, and a multiorgasmic end to this years campaign. Fortune favors the bold, so hold on tight Spartans, the magic of this season isnt over yet.

Well the home games are expended, the tailgates are at a halt for 2008.The Bocce Championship has been completed.
I was defeated.
Again.
2nd place for the 3 rd year in a row, and the 5 th time in 6 years.
Congrats to Sarah, you earned it with a great performance.You are a gracious winner and a REAL competitor.
The final point tally was Sarah +1, followed by me, then george at -2.
LOST scribes and historians shall forever speculate on the effects of ELLIS GATE.The infamous bad call on game point in what is now a CRITICAL match.Cary & Jeni vs Sarah & who cares.With game point being called by the officials as in favor of my squad, with no less than THREE shots remaining, we toss off two and then..."wait , that point is green....oh sorry".The result, one shot at an easy lie.We missed our ONE remaining shot,AFTER a VERY BAD CALL by CAESAR, the senior official, and voila, a point in head to head play for Sarah.The ONE point that seperated me from a tie or possible victory.
Caesar often speaks of his abscence from a 2005 OSU game as being the only reason why I won my title in 2005, which is complete crap, but none the less, he maintains he would have won.
If that be the case, with his bad call ultimatley affecting the outcome of 2008, lets just say that account is "paid in full".McFist-in -my-ass giveth and he taketh away.
People can say, "it shoulnt mean that much", or " its just a game", with tears in her eyes, I think it means a bit more, wouldnt you agree Sarah?Good job girl.Ellis gate shall be shrouded in mystery and speculation forever. The Great Satan

The time has come.The last home game and we play host to the Great Satan.Purdue has earned that distinction because of its uncanny ability to completely screw up a golden opportunity.Lets say for instance, your favorite elite college basketball program has a breeze schedule to the big 10 title remaining, all they gotta do is get past a middle league Purdue squad.Your up by 13 or so at Mackey and then splat.Purdue "boils -er up", and you lose.Rose bowl football season with a blowout loss to Purdue, who barely made the lowest bowl game.Its that type of spoiler/upset power that they seem to posses that makes them the "Great Satan".That, and I believe Gene Keady sold his soul to the devil.I'm sure of it.He should have bargained for better hair in the deal.

Purdue by all accounts should put up token resistance.I think Sheets and Siller get some good yards on the ground, but the passing attack is all but neutralized I think.
Blair White will have a good day.Take it to the bank.If the world has caught on, yet, they cover White with better guy or a double team maybe.That means that Dell,Cunningham,Gant,Martin,etc. might step up.Coach D said in interview that someone or somebodies are stepping up each week and making big plays.By all accounts Ringer's health is back on track.I think there is a possibility that Ringer has a huge day.

Iowa plays PennState at home this week.Starts at 330pm.Heres to Captain Kirk getting all the hawks fired up.A loss at Iowa would be excellent.With my luck this week so far (long story), Karma could certainly help out by zapping PSU for us.If PSU has a breakdown, say, a turnover that leads to a quick hawks score, kinda like OSU did to us, its possible Iowa could pull it off.Any injuries on PSU squad would help.Hell, what ever it takes. MSU needs it to help overcome the visitors disadvantage.

Ohio State is on the road at Northwestern.Again, if OSU provides the fuel to fire up the cats in the form of lethargic offense,dumb penalties or turnovers converted to points, there's a chance OSU loses. I wouldn't count on it.NW might be able to whip off 20 more plays than the Buckeyes, its just 20 more opportunities for the OSU defense to score or wipe out NW's offensive talent.
If you hear Cory Wootens name 5 times tomorrow, OSU loses.They wont.

Minnesota plays host to Michigan this week. Minnesota has had a good run, but I'm hear to say its over.Yes, you heard it here first, Michigan will beat Minnesota AT Minnesota.I think the Minnesota squad is tired and used up all its tricks.The Wolverinoes will cough up the ball a bunch of times, but they will prevail in a game that will have a margin of victory smaller than 8 points.

Its my time. I have played well all year, save two weeks.I didn't go win less all year.I regularly helped toss quad fours every week.At least one per week.No shutouts this year...yet.The Caesar has been a benevolent leader, so he will be spared. Will someone please tell me how in the hell a man is supposed to make any friggin' money with a stock market like the one we have.Is EVERYONE a trader now? And what about all the hedge redemptions?Big Bucks suckers pulling money in and out.I should have seen this coming and I overestimated the greed factor.The market reset prior to the election makes sense, but the election impact wont be felt for months.If we have a small bull run, probably tempered with tax loss selling, I can see another big collapse after the new president is sworn in.Build posistion and liquidate.Come on TV and say,"its the economy.its the world slowdown.its hard rain".Whatever.I shouldnt complain much, Im doing good compared to 85% of folks except for my options posistions.My options got crushed.No surprise there either.Im coming back a bit, the only thing that helps is a January expiration.Trillions of dollars of assets, just disappeared.I think wallstreet sometimes cuts its own throat when its not trading on what matters.Employment,low debt,big margins,share buybacks,earnings.If the traders always did that then we'd have a great bull market again.The problem shouldnt be confused with the knowledge.GOOD traders dont predict market direction, they play volatility.I play volatility, but heres the problem..again.The market is moving irrationaly.Emotion and SUPERRICH morons knee jerking thier money everytime Warren Buffet farts makes the market go up and down right now.Thats stupid.And I hate it, but I will defeat them.I was smart and held an average 33% cash ratio.I still havent gone to market much yet.I think Ill make some moves after the President is sworn in.I think before the end of the year, or maybe the first week of January, we retest 8500 on the Dow.Maybe lower than that, maybe 78/7900.I need to study it more closely.Ive been so disgusted with it,I have spent the last 5 weeks looking away like I was seated next to a slobbering dimentia vicitim or a "skin graft on my face" guy. First things first.Congrats and a hearty "hell yeah!!" to the 25th ranked MSU mens Soccer team, who by virtue of a 1-0 victory over the 6th ranked Northwestern Wildcats,won the schools FIRST BIG TEN TITLE in Coach Joe Baums LAST regular season game.What a way for a solid soccer team to send off its skipper.Take pride Spartans, this title was a long time coming, and well deserved by these fine athletes and great coach.

With O Fortuna playing in our heads, Spartan nation sprang forth for a CRITICAL 3rd down stop.Wisconsin punts, leaving 1:19 on the clock.Score..MSU 22, Wisco 24.We need Brian Hoyer to engineer a game winning drive.Possibly, a true defining moment in his career as a Spartan.The very first time into battle this year, Hoyer came up short pushing MSU down the field as time expired in a losing effort against California.We've seen this scenario far to often, eh Spartans?

This guy is kicking a 44 yard field goal, not shooting free throws.We line up, set the line....."time out Wisconsin".Again , the badgers leader attempts to ice the kicker.With a pat on the back ,wink and nodd from Coach D, Swenson lines up.The snap is perfect, the ball is placed and ..... F' in BINGO.With our arms thrust over our heads and our faces turning red,Spartan nation erupts as the ball splits the uprights.Georgie and I just stood and riot screamed toward the field. Firmly pushed into the badgers side, Swenson broke that mother F'er off in Wisco's ass. Special game ball to Wisconsin coach Bret for not only giving us a composure timeout for free, earlier in the game, two players and Coach Beilema accounted for 35 yards in three seperate penalties to help set up a MSU score to make it 19-24 ad Wisco, without MSU so much as snapping the ball. The crowd was in good form, and the LSU Tigers fan (idiot) who sits two rows in front of me got his stupid ass up and left when we were down by 11 in the forth quarter.I NEVER hear him say anything positive about MSU, just comments on how stagnant the offense is , or what some player is doing wrong.If that bad hurricane blew his ass up here, I sure wish it would've carried him back home.There were several people around us that were saying, "we're done, same old spartans.." and sulking.I agree, same old spartan dead asses who sit quietly and golf clap,and sell their seat to the Ohio State game.George spoke up and said," wait..just wait and see.We're gonna win, we have a chance still...".No one really disagreed with him, but they all had doubts.I didnt have doubts, but I did feel like it was slipping away because I felt that we couldnt rely on Hoyer to WIN a game, just not to lose a game.Redeemed is Bobby Ho in my eyes.Hoyer is no superman,but he is solid.I have seen his mental game grow, and if I was to make any judgement at all, I'd say his physical game has gone as far as it will go.He's gotten smarter, but I havent seen him get any more athletic.For having a virus, Ringer put some great blocks on, and did a good job all around.Game balls to ALL THE DEFENSIVE PLAYERS.What a great effort.Wisconsin put up MONSTROUS yards on the ground, and only managed 24 points.The D showed up BIG time when we needed them on the forementioned 3rd down.Thats when O Fortuna came on either in our heads , or over the public address, or both.

The Wisconsin tailgate has concluded and the roll call is complete.Missing from class....Jake and his 20 something testosterone crew.The old folks next door crushed their precious tummy tums and made them scaret (Def. Scart(scare-t,emphasis on the T);to be a vagina of sorts, to show your tender underbelly,pussies). The boys next door were not earlier than us, they werent even present at all.I speculate that they retreated to another tailgate spot.One where they can toss the football, call eachother their petnames and be relatively cool in the surroundings, and not be wreckified by the Big, Bad, George.Or maybe they just didnt have tickets to the game, or maybe, ahh ..who cares.I think they set up camp somewhere else so they couldnt get UDM'ed into utter submission and salvage some sort of manhood.Especially phone guy, who isnt related to cell phone bitch, who spent the latter hours of his drunkeness on the phone trying to convince some hootchie from days gone by that he's changed and he's not a skirt chasing, keg standing, ball sack in sneakers whos only interest is getting his carrot dipped and moving on.
In other news, our guests, Harvey, Josh and Susie were well received, and alienated adequatley.Harvey is a statistic machine, and I wouldnt challenge his recollections of Wisconsin sports or goings on in UW land.Nice guy, much less sophisticated than McDofist had anticipated, but OBVIOUSLY intelligent.A dangerous adversary I would think.Harvey and Josh hung around, played Bocce and speculated on the days outcome. Susie, who I didnt hear say more than 2 words to me, or anyone other than mommy, lingered out of sight and spent her time doing something. I dont think she had any lunch, and a trip with Georges mom Phyllis and Judy to get hot chocolate was about it.Engaging person eh?Pardon me while I..... well you know.Nice enough lady, well groomed, educated, etc.Also obviously Judys pride and joy, so she gets a pass.
Josh and Susie also announed that they are pregnant.We offered congrats and such.Judy said her son has children, but when its your daughter, its differant.How I dont know, grandkids are grandkids the way I see it, but Judy is experienced and such, so I'll take her word for it.Sarah,Jamie and I made up for lost drinking time once the others had departed.Of course, McFist left everything laying about, and we spent our time picking up as usual.No surprise there.After some recreational usages and some more drinkito's, we made our way to the bus.1220pm on a noon kickoff.Right on time.I wouldnt mind getting off the bus as the game starts, but we havent seen a kickoff in two years, and with this years success, we decided not to break with the tradition, to avoid any jinxification.It worked...again.

Well its 530 friday, and Im on the final approach to football saturday.I've got to stage my cooler.The truck is loaded and ready.Weather is supposed to be like today, which will make for a great day for, you guessed it, FOOTBALL.The Jagers ok, the UDM's are to be mixed.Im really wondering how the next door neighbors are doing.Jamie and I smashed them with UDM's last time.They are nice guys, but your typical middle twenty somethings.Bulletproof.2 out of 3 of them didnt see the game.They was wreck-i-fied (Def.Wreckified; to be wrecked, to be smashed, to be sent into an alcohol induced vomit fest).The menu will consist of the common grilling meats and the usual board of fare.Shrimp,garlic stuffed olives,pepperoni and cheddar cheese.Probably chili from Sarah.She makes excellent chili, which serves as an excellent stomach base for consuming alcohol. Wisconsin is coming of a win from last week.Their confidence is up obviously. I hope my Spartans arent taking them lightly because of Wisco's poor conference record.Wisco's hot shot tight end is out for the season, so that helps. I think our Defense will blitz and disrupt them pretty good.Im really hoping for a couple turnovers from the badge QB.A pick or two would be nice. The badger D will wear out just like all the others if PJ Hill cant sustain drives and wear our our D line.That'll be tough considering we have about 3 or 4 guys to rotate in and out.Wisco's stats arent that bad, but the record stands on it own.
Im optimistic, and I think if we limit penalties and turnovers, if not eliminate them, we should win this one.Gather shield and spear Spartans, the badgers are here to die.

Never drink Sun country wine cooler that was left over from the turkey day party 6 months after the party.2-2 litre bottles will F' you up, and make your head hurt so bad, you want what ever is worse than dieing.You deserve it.Jamie and I were roommates,most of his friends came over.That house was a rats nest, but it was home.Good times. Oh my god!! Two more home games!! AHHHH...NNOOOO!! At the conclusion of this season, LOST will have participated in 9 games of a 12 game schedule.What a ride so far! I think most of us are holding strong, Mc Caesar is wearing a bit, but he's a fu@#ing trooper.We have got REAL badgers showing up this week.McOrifice has invited Josh (son-in-law) and his father, both or at least one is a Wisco alumni.Guests are fun, and they will be sacrificed on the altar.........
I mean, they will be treated with all the customary respect and so forth.I have met Josh , and he's a regular kinda guy, so we should all have fun, as usual.Fist will probably be showing up late, so he will unfortunately miss out on the Bocce action, but I think he's learned by now, that his run has ended.Sarah, Georgiebitch and yours truly are all within 1 point of each other tournament wise, so the last two should be a fast and furious race.I did really well when OSU came to town, Im hopeful to keep up the pace.I have BIG plans if I happen to win the tournament, plus I get to host the Tailgate tuneup.That will be spectacular.

Has anyone spotted who my new best friend is? If you havent, I'll tell you later on.Penn State has shown on the national stage that they are a team LARGE and IN CHARGE.They have had a few spots where they slipped (Purdue for one), but overall, they look healthy and well coached.BIG SURPRISE.Any loss on the way to face MSU will surely help our cause,but I honestly think its going to settle at the end.The Penn State website and the media is already hyping the MSU/Penn St game.They assume a lot, considering MSU has got to beat Wisconsin (looking like a heartbeat has been established with a win at Iowa) and the Great Satan.T.G.S (Purdue shall always be referred to as the Great Satan, or TGS) looks bad with controversy within the team, and really nothing to play for.

My new best friends , if you havent got it yet is IOWA.Yes, our farm friends to the west.Iowa can knock out Minnesota, if the Phers can make it all the way to the end without losing AND with any blessing of luck, can put a conference loss on Penn State this weekend.The ding on PennState would put ALL the pressure on PSU for a matchup with MSU.If , but, what, coulda, shoulda,etc.etc. Spartan nation NEEDS the titanic PSU game to sum up the best season in a long time.The hawkeyes have two losses already, so they are all but eliminated from Rose Bowl pictures.

MSU & L.O.S.T triumph in Ann Arbor

The last down has been played, the last whistle blown. Everyone has returned home and the groundscrew cleans up Michigan Stadium.The final result? VICTORY.

Yes, you heard me. VICTORY. And boy is it sweet. MSU overcame a REALLY bad call on a "pylon touchdown", misssed field goals, a hostile crowd, and a seemingly inspired Wolverinoe squad and most of all, gained its first victory in The Big House since 1990.18 years of frustration and struggle.It by no means indicates a passing of power in a series that has not been kind to MSU, but it does signal the arrival of MSU on the Big 10 top 5 radar and also helps establish Mark Dantonio as a solid coach and program builder.With MSU being on TV every game this year, hopefully more recruits will be interested in playing ball at MSU.

My LOST cohorts and I , well, in a word or two, TORE THAT PLACE UP! As our official "away" game , and yet another oppurtunity to scratch off a stadium from our list of houses in the Big Ten that we have invaded, it was , overall a wonderful day! It all started with a very generous portion of alcohol at the famous Stivers restaurant and bar.Upon arrival, we were booed out of the bar, with a smattering of support by some Spartans, and a complete lack of seating.We took a table just outside the bar and ordered our food.Fried shrimp,wet burrito,beef nachos and fried mushrooms.Delish.With pitcher beer and STIFF mixed drinks, we carried on greeting Spartans and harassing UM faithful as they came and went.Whiskey sours, gin and tonic, bloody marys and 7 & 7's.Whiskey to "make us surly" I growled.The jokes never stopped or the laughter, and all the while, Caesar with a steady eye on the clock. "Promise me I will see kick off...promise me!", McDofist cried. Reassured, Caesar rested.For 15 seconds. Then the look to the wall clock and another, " come on, I wanna be on the bus for kickoff!!". Keep in mind, the game starts at 330pm, our park and ride parking lot is all of 11 minetes away, and its 135pm ."drink your gin & tonic", we said.2 min. later, "come on!!! I wanna be on the bus!!!", Caesar pleaded.Relenting, Mother Superior picked up the food/bar tab ( so long it was like three pages or something) and we made our way into the bar again.Spotting a friend of old days, LOST had a brief tuning hum and then..you guessed it, the MSU fight song.LOUD and PROUD.We belted that song out in that tiny bar, all the UMies coiled in fear, hissing.When "victory for MSU!!" rolled out and the bar fell silent, applause and cheering.LOST conquers again in the form and function of our sing along deep in the heart of Penn State territory!I have yet to see another group of adults with the enthusiasm we convey.

The ride to Miller road was quick and the UDM's(upside down margaritas) flowed like the Red Cedar.McOrifice hammering Red Bull to insure good attention span and to fight off grain alcohol,Jamie , Sarah and me attacking Jagermeister and UDM with the force of a runaway dump truck.Soon after arrival at Miller, the lovely Judy showed up.Her face indifferant at the prospect of how drunk we were getting, she held fast as McOrifice attempted to extinguish her fears.With Warpigs blaring in the background, the 2nd bus arrived."Hurry!Hurry!"'McFist slobbercated ( Def. "slobbercated"; to drool in a drunken state whilst speaking).

Quickly we shuffled to the bus, paid and boarded.When we settled in the very rear of the bus, we sang that song again.LOUD.This disturbed the bus driver and he growled at us.The conversation was unrefined and volumnous, of course.Poor Judys eyes looking out the bus window, trying to disassociate with the drunkards.I cant blame her, its not much fun if your not boisterous to.Anywho, we exited the bus and with some confusion on how Michigan fans line up for bathrooms, we voided and entered the lions den.Wow.Big stadium, filled to the roof with Wolverinoes.Tight seating, but not to bad.Cozy.One thing that struck me was the amount of green.We made a good showing in the big house, and Jeni commented that you could really hear us on the telecast.Loud on TV ?I thought.Cool.Very cool. My whole crew did what it does best.We brought the Spartans sitting near to life.We made noise on every down while on defense and really brought our A game.I am very proud of our crew and our team.The battle on the field see-sawed as I had foreseen with Michigan tieing the score approaching half time in less than a min or so.I mean they strolled right down the field and BANG.TD Michigan.The crowd exploded.Time expired, the teams left the field, and we waited.When the second half was underway, you could see the UM D line wearing out, just as I predicted.After a MSU score, the Prophetic and Wise Bishop of Bocce leans over and says,"now we need a turnover!".And almost as if it was on a cue,BANG.Interception.The first play from scrimmage for UM and Threet throws a pick.Underthrown ball it looked like.The game went on and UM crumbled under the weight of MSU's offense.It was amazing.We pranced gavotteing about singing our song and rolling in the Wolverines shame like a dog and a 4 day dead racoon.As we walked to our victory charoits (AATA busses) LOST high fived and revved up EVERY Spartan we saw, until we boarded the bus.Glowing with satisfaction, we were carried off into the night.What a pleasure.What a memory.WHAT A GAME.

University of What?

Tomorrow is the big day.Michigan State vs Michigan in the big house, or that dump on main and university drive as I like to call it.I worked about half a block from Michigan Stadium for a couple years and every Saturday, I would mercilessly jeer them as they all shuffled by to see the Wolverinoes play football.Campus was kinda fun, but I was 20 or so at the time, so I was consumed entirely with trying to breed all the college students, as most red blooded boys are.
Michigan holds a HUGE lead all time in the series, meaningless.Michigan has won like 8 or 9 straight against us, including two overtime wins and last years "comeback",meaningless.UM bozos all over talking sports out their ass saying how Bo Schembechler, yes I said Bo, and his crew are gonna "wipe the floor" with my warriors.Ignorant.The Rodriguez supporters ALL saying that a win against MSU would be a crowning acheivement for this UM squad.MORE ignorance, considering the only thing most UM fans can clearly focus on is how in the world can they beat the buckeyes.Wont happen.And all the while, here is good old MSU plugging along,6-2 overall,3-1 conference, and feeling entirely optimistic about the rest of this season as well as the future.With all the redshirt freshman and sophomores on this team that contribute right now, the future is so bright, you need sun block spf 4800.Better yet, basketball season is right around the corner(rubbing my hands together,grinch like grin plastered all over my face).
Heres the deal,chuck.
I see a 40-50 % chance of rain tomorrow.I see a UM squad that gives the ball away 4 or 5 times a game, in a spread offense ,that cant pass because its wet.They certainly wont run the I formation and run straight at us unless all UM wants to do is throw bodies at the machine gun nest that is the Spartan D.I see MSU blasting away at UM's D line, with a tight game up to the half. When the second half starts is when I see the magic happening.Ringer wears them down getting big and bigger chunks of yards.I see UM getting desperate and forcing plays that will result in at least 2 interceptions for MSU.Both of which could result in 6 points, or at a minimum, good field posistion, and another set of downs to punch an already tired UM defense around.
Overall, I see MSU on top.I cant see anything else.I dont predict scores, but I can say it will be a WAR.

Welcome to all who enter here.This is numero uno blog entry,and I assure you all,I shall comment on things you nothing about,and things you know better than me.No strings,comment freely,and as always, you reap what you sow.Have fun understanding me, no one else does.Well maybe my wife.Anyway, this entry falls on the heels of a stunning home loss for my beloved Michigan State Spartans to the evil empire, Ohio State. 7-45 folks. MSU was 6-1 overall and 3-0 conference.I wanted this one bad and so did all my pals.The crowd in Spartan stadium was not in good form.I was shocked, it was like lambs to slaughter in there.As soon as Big Daddy and I arrived, we felt something was wrong.OSU was up 7-0.We got settled in our seats and proceeded to do what we do.Make noise, pump up the crowd, and get the party started in our section.We carried on through the scoring, the turnovers OSU turned into points on the board,the OSU faithful flapping their jaws,and so on.Along about the end of the 3rd quarter, OSU scored yet again, and people in my row picked up their little seat cushions and began shuffling toward the door.When they got right in front of me, I did something I never thought I'd do.I looked at these people in the eyes and said,"get out, we don't need you anyway!".I was so disgusted with just about everyone around me,I turned nasty.The liquor didn't help,but I wasn't pushing people around either.The team looked as if it didn't have a good game plan for OSU.Or any game plan for that matter.These guys on the football squad have come so far so fast,I cant fault them anymore than they have themselves.I know the disappointment they must feel.I wanted to get in there and bust some Ohio ass so bad, I was seething.Not a lot of obscenity I don't recall.Indeed we lost the game and some pride.Ohio State falls off the schedule this year.Cant say I'm sad about missing, basically, all of Tyrelle Pryor's career.If OSU does anything, I think he's outie after his sophomore year.Ohio State plays host to Penn State, #3 in the nation, this week.Its homecoming for OSU I think.Penn hasn't won in Ohio Stadium since 1978.30 years of getting whupped.We will see what happens.More football tomorrow.MSU vs UM this week.The wolverines in the big house.A must win, we shall discuss later.Go Green!!!
